I couldn't believe that he got so close.
I have been having fun with the ideas for the outdoor shower. This is just the start of the ideas for this piece of the cabin. It feels good to build pieces of our tiny space in the woods.

Slowly but surely we are looking to turn to off-the-grid solutions for power and waste. We would like to grow as composters and gardeners. For now though, our focus is still on the cabin building process. Thank you for joining us.
I camp and hike in and around the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. I'm also building and enjoying an off- grid cabin in the woods with my partner Cory and the kiddos Nora and Ethan! I love sharing the journey with you!
Thank you for supporting our channel :) :)

Maybe you're a Disney Princess? Dryer sheets help to deter them from chewing on paper goods and towels.

It's looking so good! If socks/Crocs keep off the poison ivy wear the socks! I'm also agreeing with another commenter about Fels Naptha soap. It is usually with the laundry items in the store but comes in a bar soap form. Keep it by the outdoor shower and wash your hands and legs when you come in, or grate it with a cheese grater and put in a spray bottle with water to dissolve. Then spray and rinse. Try moth balls to keep away the mice (and the moths lol). I scatter them in my attic and under my cabin. I do this once a year and haven't had a mice problem. I think it's the smell that deters the mice.

You need tall water boots to eliminate getting into poison ivy. Stuart Little needs water. Put that in the live trap.

The socks won't help much. From what they told us in scouts as a kid was it's probably worse if it gets on your clothes as the oils get in them and spreads it around. Can't remember if I mentioned it in another video of yours, but get some stuff called Fels Naptha. It's super old school stuff. Like came out in the 1800's or something. Paper wrapper that has kind of an old 50's look it it. Any camping trip we went on in Boy Scouts, we were required to have a half bar of it in our packs. It's a clothing detergent in bar form. They told us it was the only stuff (back in the 80's anyway) they knew that'd get P.I. off your skin and out of your clothes. Something in it breaks down those P.I. oils. Should be able to get it in any Walmart or decent sized grocery store. Menards, Lowe's or Home Depot I would think might sell it as well. For some reason I can't imagine Target carrying it. Should be able to find how to use it by doing a quick online seach. [EDIT]: According to wikipedia: "The original Fels-Naptha was developed by Fels & Company of Philadelphia around 1893" "It was often used as a home remedy in the treatment of contact dermatitis caused by exposure to poison ivy, poison oak, and other oil-based organic skin-irritants where they have touched the skin but not yet inflamed the area.[9] When the soap contained its namesake naphtha, washing the skin directly with the soap helped remove urushiol, the allergen associated with poison ivy. As with other strong detergents, the revised formulation retains this capability."

Try making a pour over coffee. It is simple, fast, and tastes great. Hario makes a plastic and a ceramic version. Good luck with the mice.

I may be late in a suggestion, but you need to get a Moka pot and ditch the percolator. I agree, a percolator is cool in nostalgia but it makes crap coffee. Anyhow, I use a Moka pot daily. Makes great coffee.

You know you can get really sick from mouse droppings so I would seriously figure aways to get rid of the soon because once you get sick from breathing in their droppings you will never fell well again and if you plan on bringing any children up there I would try to get rid of them. And I can't see you with a mouse trap especially the way you jumped when the bowl came off of that rodent just FYI

Jodi, I love the cabin but I’d find a way to get rid of the mice! Live traps make YOU feel better but the mice poop everywhere and that’s dirty and disgusting. Just use a good, old fashioned mouse trap and seal up any big and small openings or they will take over. As for coffee, I think you’d like the pour over option and it’s so much more portable. You can make it as weak or as strong as you like. 🐭🪤
@jodimiddendorf
@jodimiddendorf 10 ай бұрын
I... just can't do it! We are going to get a fresh live trap and try to get the mousey far far away from the cabin. I will definitely try the pour over method. That is the route I'd like to go with for at the cabin.
