For nearly 30 years, I've marveled at my wife's almost all-knowing sense of intuition. I never understood it or even tried to, assuming it was the province of women and never gave it much thought. Until now. Now that she's gone I'm trying so desperately hard to understand my own fledgling intuition. It tried to warn me this Thanksgiving was not going to be easy. Everyone wishing me to have one was only edging me closer to tears. And as expected it was a study in grief but with the help of a botle of wine, I somehow survived and got through it. The next morning was a new day and while straightening the garage, I looked at the Christmas decorations and groaned, there's no way on earth I'm celebrating and promptly put it all at the curb for passersby to take as they pleased. Too upset to stay home I decided to drive to the beach and stare at the water, perhaps watch the sunset. As I pulled away, the decorations were already gone, all our Christmases gone. And gone too was my heart. Like a hard rain, I cried the whole drive to the beach, so hard I could barely see the freeway in front of me, screaming her name. But I just kept driving. Trying to steady my breathing. I sat on a bench, high above the water, looking down on the beautiful shimmering pacific ocean, feeling sorry for myself, haunted for witnessing cancer's bitter end. And I heard my intuition tell me I'm self-sabotoging, thoughtlessly tossing out our memories. I remembered from your talks, warning not to let despair spiral out of control. But it seems that's exactly what it is I'm orchestrating. God, I was scaring myself. On the drive back I doubled down on my promise to throw my whole heart and soul into creating music like never before. It was black Friday after all and on the way decided to sooth my nerves at a music store. They were busy of course, like a madhouse. I probably would have been their biggest sale of the day had they just said, can I help you? I left empty handed, empty hearted too, but determined to break free and breakthrough, really listen closely to my intuition, develop my inner voice, listen even closer to my mentors, to you and your deep understanding of the body of wisdom and philosophy handed down through the ages, to Hiroko's love and guiding spirit, so deep in my heart. And follow wherever they take me. Wherever that is, that's where I belong. Home.

My intuition comes without any mental words or pictures. My imaginations can come with whatever sensory data my mind can throw in.
