The mentality shift is key. You have to be willing to not get a bite. I don’t tournament fish, but I forced myself to only throw Swimbaits for all of 2018 to learn as much as I could about fishing them. Oliver is a great resource to learn about throwing bit baits.

Randy I'd love to see a video of the story of how you joined MegaBass so early. I've seen they only have 3 pro staff, and you said you joined in the early 90's. Would love to know what it was like getting in so early, and how your experience with them grew as they have become so popular in the 2000's til now! Love the videos and your honesty always

Favor/question for Randy. Is there a way to activate the closed caption feature for those of us that want/need some extra help hearing the video? Right now it does not function (it would be swell if it did for those that really needed it). Thanks for considering this my friend. As we age and the hearing goes, it’s great to be able to read the valuable info. you offer.

I'd love to give you some first hand experience with big baits and Table Rock. Been throwing them there for 8 years. TRL PB is 8lbs 10oz on the S-waver 200, and have cashed multiple "Big Bass" hourly checks on big baits.
@morganyoder42773 жыл бұрын
If you can, please film that trip on table rock you're going to do with the big baits. Also I love anytime you talk about big baits, they're just so intriguing to fish.

I use them to find followers just as much as I do trying to catch a giant. Even in very muddy water fish will come check out a large lure.

90% of all my double digits have come on 8" to 10" swim baits this type of fishing takes commitment and time and mindset for detail but very rewarding.

I started fishing the mid-sized glide base in the last year I've yet to catch Giant on them but they are addicting I've got a whole box of glide base and multi-jointed swimbaits now you have dozens and dozens of followers follow those baits all the way back to the boat this spring I've been using a glide bait as a search bait a lot to find out where fish are holding.

Caught a 4lb spot on Megabass Magdraft def addictive! Enjoyed the vid.
@kail27993 жыл бұрын
To me the best of both worlds is the 6” Magdraft or the 6” Scottsboro Line Through. They’re big enough to attract the quality, but don’t break the bank, and you don’t need specialty rod.

We throw those things for big toothy fish up here in Ontario, and I'm sure Oliver does when he's north also. Only difference is that the later in the season, the bigger the bait up here. Those are nice fall baits for sure!

I see them as a reasonable option early on a tournament morning, when a lot of big ones are still up cruising. Then maybe put it down, or keep chunking it idk lol

Randy, I have lost two of the Vitalion lures this spring in Southern Indiana. Maybe I am not using them right. Will you please provide more details on the techniques. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Also the Magsowl swim bait. No bites yet.

Thanks again Randy... HERE IN WISCONSIN... IF YOU CATCH A 4 TO 5 Lber YOU'RE DOING PRETTY GOOD.. THE BIGGEST I EVER CAUGHT WAS JUST OVER 5 LB .. IF I WAS STILL IN TOURNAMENTS .. I WOULD USE REGULAR SIZE BAITS TO CATCH A LIMIT , THEN USE THE BIGGER GLIDE BAITS TO CULL OUT THE SMALLER ONES..

There are more skeptical bass anglers that are afraid to throw the big bait in my neck of the woods. It’s cool with me , I just tell those anglers more big fish for me 🤣

@@garym2293 how many times have you thrown a $300 bait? The answer is none because you don’t see the value in it, which is fine. Some people do and that doesn’t make their choice any less valid than yours

@@ben1449 You must know nothing on how much swimbaits cost I own and throw multiple 300 dollar swimbats some out there are over 1000 custom baits arent easy to get and definitly worth the money it is just a tool used to catch fish the value isnt the cost of the bait its what it does for me that is the value which is catch trophy size bass not all are willing to spend or lose a custom swimbat have a custom gillrilla on order now from hiroshima baits cost 175 Real Baits Cost Big $!!! I have a personal aversion to big swimbaits or glide baits ...or almost anything over 1 ounce. There are plenty of conventional baits that will catch big bass...eg: Devil's Horse, Whopper Plopper, buzzbait, spinnerbaits etc etc etc
@arewethebadies3 жыл бұрын
In the summer I have started using the largest Whopper Plopper I can find on TVA lakes and use them all day even on sunny days and catch large numbers and large fish. It has been amazing. The water temp is still in the mid 60's and I have already caught 2 fish 5 lbs this year on the Plopper. I lost one fish that was so big it could not get its self out of the water when it tried to throw the lure.

I guarantee, the first cast I'd make up here in Ontario with one of those big expensive baits, it would get bit off by a muskie!

been big baitin for 3 years now I catch lots of big fish still no DD 8.3 is biggest soo many 6.5s its ridiculous average size is 4.5 to 6 on most of all my big baits its very expensive some baits cost over 300 about all are over 100 you had better have a mental game and be ready to fail I live in Phx AZ its hot once went 4 months with not even a bite fishing 3 days a week 10 plus hours a day and all my vacation times but its not always the fish we are after not all understand true commitment to madness Good Luck on your big bait journey its a very personal experience for sure I will never throw a conventional bait again Cheers!! :))

As I no longer fish tournaments, they would not be worth the investment to me. That said, I can see where they would work, and that they would catch some really good fish. I'm pretty much a shallow water river rat now.
