Did you even listen what he said. He specifically said he still uses jigs in the summer he just switches up the colors to imitate perch and other fish. Because they aren't really feeding on crawfish. Then you said especially night time. Well everyone knows that. A black blue jig with big old flapping craw on it. Like at that point at night, you're just making a big enough profile for the fish to key in on.

Perfect timing on the video as I've been studying crayfish here in Michigan. Good point on the colors/water clarity. I've been using a pit boss this summer around rocky areas to much luck. Had a situation last week where I was throwing a green pumpkin craw in clear water until the water got dirty after a couple days of rain. Switched to an Okeechobee color and got hit immediately. Thx for all the work you do boss, learning a lot.

I agree with you randy but, I catch more fish "at night" in the summer on east Tennessee lakes on craws than I do big worms. Speed craws and slim pacas gets it done for me.

Could it be because of the high vibration the speed craw puts out for your success at night?

Recent scientific studies have shown pretty conclusively that bass only distinguish red & green really well. They can’t distinguish between brighter colors or darker colors. They couldn’t tell the difference between white and chartreuse or between black brown or blue. The deeper the water and the dirtier the water the more pronounced the effect. So basically lure colors can fall into 4 types: reds, greens, dark & bright colors. Lure profile, size and action are significantly more important
@theultimatesteelshooter86102 жыл бұрын
@My Dixie Wrecked🔨 yep, the science is very strong bu most anglers don’t want to educate themselves. Bass fishing is n activity that is filled with so many misconceptions and myths and tackle companies are not helping in most cases
@astrophysicistguy2 жыл бұрын
@ultimatesteelshooter is correct but its even more complicated than that …. A bass can also see lower wavelength and higher wavelengths of light than the human eye (into the UV & IR portions) so than can perceive more than humans. It’s the same concept that enables a radio telescope to “see things in the universe that we cannot see with a visible spectrum scope. A study was recently done where different lures that had the same visible light color patterns were put into a spectrograph and it revealed that some lures were visible in the UV & IR spectrum. This could mean that the reason the bass seem to hit one lure or another is because it sees that lure in these other parts of the spectrum. More search needs to be done but dont be surprised if you see future lures claiming they are visible in UV and/or IR which make them more visible to a bass …

What I've found in all of the Bass I have cleaned for consumption, the fish that have a "crawdad" in it's stomach; the position is tail first with the claws facing towards the front or head of the fish, indicating that it swallowed the crawfish tail first. I have never seen the crawfish positioned differently in every case.

I’ve always thought the red in crawfish to be a response to stress. Whether it be inside a bass or a pot. Crawfish do shed their shells as they grow, although I do not have a clue as to how or if bass will key on soft shell crawfish.

I love the content my man, these types of videos where you just drop knowledge is a refreshing break from "this is a lure and this is the retrieve" kind of video. I would point you to the Cambrian Explosion though, as one example (they're are plenty more) why evolution seems untrustworthy by scientific standards. Don't believe the hype :) Can you do a video on how to hold fish? I see a lot of people using lip grippers on pickerel and pike, but I've heard that can damage the fragile jaws they have. I think people just don't know what to do with some fish and theyvtreat them like a bass. Much love Randy

Match the hatch as a bass fisherman isn't truly about color. I look at the fish's throat and what their eating. If you see a tail, you can tell if it's shad, gill or so forth. If you see pincer and such, I'm putting on some sort of craw. This is my matching the hatch. It's more about the flavor of the day.
