Intussusception is a type of bowel obstruction caused by the telescoping of the intestines, most commonly seen in babies, infants, or children less than 36 months of age.
Diagnosis is usually made with an abdominal ultrasound that shows a target sign or bulls eye appearance. Treatment may involve an air or contrast enema, or surgery.
