Japanese knotweed is not only invasive, it is delicious. Protect soil and water quality from herbicides by regularly harvesting the plant's abundant shoots for friends, farmers' markets and restaurants. Market by emphasizing its tangy sweetness and similarity to asparagus and rhubarb.

I can’t believe you think Glyphosate is an option that is water safe. Ridiculous

If it spreads vegetatively, doesn't mowing or weedwacking spread it as well?

The threat of Japanese knotweed has nothing really to do with losing a fly.

I've been spraying one patch of knotweed repeatedly during the year for SEVEN years now. The patch STILL isn't completely dead. This is the weed from Hell.

I'm battling knotweed right now with Roundup, and garlic mustard is within 1/2 mile of my 14 acres. I will not allow it to take over.

He says glyphosate, so it can be Roundup. The 1L bottles labeled Biactive are reasonably cost-effective, they contain twice as much of the active ingredient than the plain green Roundup. I'd say a 4% solution will be fine against knotweed. Make sure you use all-plastic spraying equipment as Roundup would react with metals. If you are so inclined, you can inject a more concentrated solution into the plant's stem; this is needed for the marvelous professional results.
