My party has 2 patrons and a warlock with a different one. The real fun starts when the goals of their patrons conflict. 😈

A monster I used as a basis for a warlock before was a beholder. I chose great old ones (because of its alien nature and origin) and I often concocted dreams of birch wood trees with fleshy eyeballs frantically glancing everywhere, or a sky with an endless expanse of stars with a pupil slit on the moon seeing the stars move erratically like the eyestalks of the beholder. I never came up with a motive though.😅

I have a game that's on hiatus 🤞 where the water genasi druid was contacted by a kraken. But this one is actually a clockwork kraken inhabited by a former paladin that was defeated by Viktra Modenheim, the Dark Lord of Lamordia, and used as a test subject for the animating intelligence within her underwater recon and defense golem years (centuries?) ago. It wants to open a portal big enough for it to pass through to escape the lands of shadow and had determined that it needs certain components only available inland and therefore requires ambulatory "assistants" to acquire them.

@Flutes Loot thanks! I had to take a break from DMing for a while to focus on home building, but we were definitely having fun. I had some other fun NPCs too, like an awakend hairless bear that was a trophy hunter exclusively of humanoids, a pair of twin that had been fused into a shared body with 2 heads, and a insane little gnome named Kelvyn Spiffwander with spiky yellow hair and a symbiotic entity named Blobs.

Beholder's seem like they are a great patron some sort of wild magic like warlock or something

Beholders are a natural fit! They just need to not be paranoid about your betrayal :P

@@FlutesLoot but that leads to a cool conflict later with your growing power the beholder begins to fear you might try to use its own power against it (since a Warlock keeps the powers they got from the patron even after its contract has been terminated) so it sends gang members after the party to take care of the problem which eventually leads to the fight with the beholder.

I'm surprised we don't have a Dragon warlock yet. My other idea is a patron that is a legendary sentient magic item (arguably Hexblade is this, but I think something more interesting than a magic sword would be better.)

Great Stinge One sounds cool, too bad it is stinge as hay, I mesn even look at Devils. I am very sure Undying Dork was created to look GSO not so stinge.
