SPOILERS: My interpretation for those who did not get it (I didn't the first time around). After watching three times I'd say the beginning "inverse" world (posters are backwards) is what would have happened had the accident not been a thing. She would have lingered in the bathroom (no coffee stain, no blood) then she steps into the mirror into the "real world". There she sees her final minute of life as it actually happened.

Not the case. This movie was created out of this premise. Hugh Everett. Theoretical Physicist and his Many Worlds Interpretation quantum mechanics. Instead of Schrodinger's cat appearing either dead or alive, when you open the box and "observe" because the wave function collapses. With MWI, when you observe, the cat's world along with your world (actually, the entire universe & everything in it) branches. Now you exist in one world where the cat is dead and also you exist in another world where the cat is alive. My prediction. Everett must have been right, otherwise this movie would have ended in the first scene. She didn't open her eyes and all you see is, "The End". Now that's a SiFI movie I could write & produce.. Harhar !.

I definitely think that this is phenomenal! I just wanted some help understanding please reply back to what you think of these points. 1) She starts in the inversed dimension - Opening text flipped - blood on opposite side of face - pause at 1.36 and the poster is flipped (yoga) 2) She is the only one present and can be active in the inversed dimension My interpretation of the concept follows - she awakes at the scene dead BEFORE the alive version of her has. - The inversed dimension, plays out normally but when in sight of the lead everything freezes. if that makes any sense? - From the bathroom scene she is able to push the lady over MEANWHILE pushing her over in the real world dimension. The lead actor acts as a ghost. - After seeing her act of heroism she was able save the little by running back to the inversed dimension. My interpretation overall This short film follows a recently passed Lady who awakes to a cafe where she meets her boyfriend/husband. She soon realises she is the only one living, intact she is walking in a "inversed" dimension where everyone is still. As she wonders around she see the reflection in a bathroom mirror. In the reflection is a civilian who walks through the door, she is then seen in the inversed dimension. The Lady pushes the civilian over in the inversed dimension, but also in the real dimension affects the civilian. The Lady learns from this that she can act as a ghost by changing something in the inversed world to have an effect on the real world. She steps through the mirror, she wonders around. The audience learns about why she has the coffee stain. We see the Lady (real version) rush out of the frame and the Lady (Ghost version) runs back into her inversed dimension to save the little girl. The audience learns about the Lady's death. What do you think about this interpretation ?

This might sound a bit ridiculous but maybe the "inversed" world is the real world and her saving the girl was the alternate timeline. Maybe when she died in the original timeline, the world became inversed for her. The moment she died, a new timeline formed which is why the posters were the correct position. She wakes up back a few seconds back in time. When she walked through that mirror, she resumed time In the alternate timeline to the same point in time she woke up in the inversed world. I would guess that MC died in the original world and the alternate timeline was her "second chance." It's a bit confusing because of the whole time travel thing that's subtle but is certainly a part of the story. The way I viewed the events is as follows: Original timeline: (Theoretical, before opening scene) MC runs across the street after being dumped and gets hit by a car MC dies Original timeline stops (Opening scene) MC wakes up in alternate timeline, moments before her death. Alternate timeline: MC is stuck in purgatory, or in the writers sense, inverse MC re-enters new timeline but as a conscious supernatural entity (ghost) MC realizes she's back in time and has a second chance at life. Alternate MC grabs keys and runs in the opposite direction, saving her life. MC tries to console Alternate MC and may or may not have an affect on her decision to sacrifice her life Alternate MC runs to save a girl MC moves girl to safety rather than herself. First I have to point out that there's got to be a reason why the writer allowed the MC to physically come into contact with the little girl, and I'll get to this later I believe the MC's consciousness is tied to her soul eternally and that her ghost carrying the girl to safety manifestation of her decision. The "cost of a second chance" is another life in exchange for MC's. In the event that her alternate timeline shows her the price, she decides she doesn't want to pay it, so she sacrifices herself. MC is happy with her decision by her expression in her reflection. I could dig deeper and say that her decisions tie in with her character in which husband/partner insisted was unhealthy. That could support the idea of her being stuck in purgatory; she wasn't satisfied with herself. This could set the personality of her character as flawed. In that moment she realized she had a second shot at living, MC decided a young girls life was more valuable than hers. This would redeem her opinion of herself in contrary to what her partner believed her to be. She would die happily and rest peacefully. There's definitely some holes in my interpretation, but if I were to take the writers piece for what it is, it's a beautiful story about redemption. I hope I'm not 2 years too late lol

I agree with Ajomoni (below) -- I did enjoy it because the production value was incredible, but I don't see how it makes sense. Ajomoni missed the fact that the woman goes back into her original timeline, but otherwise I agree that his/her questions are valid; it's hard to agree that this should have won when the story is seemingly random (although visually it was phenomenal)

cargo is good but this is better in a lot of ways, cargo was touching and all but its not on the same level of production and script writing. actors were phenomenal in this film. post production was amazing too.

My own interpretation is that, the woman woke up in the inverted side of the mirror before the accident happen to give her a second chance (as what the summary says "What is the cost of a second chance?") without knowing what is really happening or what would be happening. She warned herself thinking it's her fault that she died. When her normal version rushed out of the cafe, she immedietly jump unto the other side to check what happened. She found out that she will die rescuing the kid. She made the decision to give the kid a second chance, hence removing her from the accident. I hope it makes sense. Sorry for my english. It's not my mother language.

This does have me searching within myself as to why I would immediatly assume it was so SUICIDE.. and also.. why without the evidence to support it/prove it, had I already condemned the character.. I feel bad for jumping to conclusions... I assumed that at 4:20; she (before death self) had decided to commit suicide by running into the street because he broke up with her. Then at 4:40-5:40 we spent a minute looking at all the damage *she caused*. But one second after at 5:41 you learn that she was trying to save a little girl who was getting the man’s ball which he dropped at 3:55. Wow. Just wow

Tropfest only likes comedy sketches that embue the Australian spirit. Well made dramas never win, much to my dismay. To anyone wishing to submit a film other than a comedy, be prepared to be disappointed. Because this film was excellent on every level and didn't even get a place.

Hi. It's a fairly simple (but painstaking and time consuming ) technique where the actors all just freeze in place. Some are leaning on metal supports that are drilled into the ground. There's a small amount of vfx (the dust and flying smashed glass in the air) the rest is all practical. The camera is on a steadicam, the car gets rolled out of the way of the operator so he can get around.

Sorry, but I don't really get what is going on. Could somebody explain? This is what I've got: The main character finds herself dead on the ground. She finds that time has stoppen. When looking at a mirror where time is flowing normally, suddenly time starts flowing in her own as well. Next, she iherently knows she can go through the mirror. Here she can't interact with her surroundings, but time flows normally. Next she witnesses a fight between her husband and an alternate version of her. The alternate MC spills coffee over her own shirt, which suggests that this version plays out the same as the original MCs. Then the alternate MC sacrifices herself for a girl that went after the alternate husbands stressball that rolled onto the street. This is clearly different from the original timeline, since there the stressball has still been hold by the original husband. Now it starts to confuse me: why can the original MC still interact with the girls from the alternate timeline? She was shown to not be able to interact with the door earlier. Why was the MC dead in the original timeline, if she never had to rescue the girl? Again, the stressball didn't roll onto the street. Also notice how in the original dimension there is no sign of a traffic incident. Why would time stop for her to rescue the child in the other dimension? Wouldn't it be more logical for the girl to walk into safety on her own if she was given the power to stop time? Or the deceased alternate MC, since that would still be her own dimension? What was the cost for whose second chance? Did the girl get the second chance, or did the MC get one? It doesn't look like the MC will walk among the living again, so is she stuck in this limbo? The girl is certainly alright, but then again, so was she in the original timeline, so she didn't really need a second chance. So did nobody get a second chance? Then why was there such a high cost? (At least two lives, + whatever happens after the one shot we saw from the traffic incident.) If somebody could explain, maybe then I could enjoy this movie (which I did enjoy) as much as the commenter that said "How the hell did this not win?". With kind regards, Ajomoni
