They’re called Spades. They’re attached to the ailerons and act to reduce the control forces - meaning it’s easier to roll the aeroplane!

Lauren, could you please let us know which watch you are wearing at the beginning of the video? At first, I thought it might be a Bulova replica of the Apollo 15 mission "Moon watch" worn by David Scott during his 3rd EVA in 1971. But after a closer look, the pushers on the chronograph don't fit the replica design. Just wondering. I like aviation watches almost as much as airplanes. Thank you. DPA

daffidavit hey, it's actually a Tissot Dressport, the only watch I've really found to date that's got decent readable numbers and a useable chronograph in a small enough package

Lucky enough to say I've seen you fly, my cousins did a video for you, (Mike and Ian) we're big fans. Keep your chin up, just seen your Twitter post and don't know what's going on. But like us, most men are jealous of your skills. Many men have fragile egos, I guess you can't tell them to grow up in a professional setting, but that's what they need to do.

Excellent VLog. One borderline irrelevant & frivolous thing - I'd imagined that as a pilot you were sort of contractually obliged to wear tinted aviators, or perhaps some kind of prescription wrap-around Oakley mirror shades. I mean, if pilots aren't wearing them, there's a trade descriptions act case brewing... :-D
