@@macheifach good question!! I was initially testing it on a v. short time frame - slightly over excitedly. I believe it was only BTC - but soon realised that the buy/sell triggers don’t necessarily flash at times where you’ll be in profit - especially where you may not get in the trade in early trigger candle. What I do now is: inform decisions on a portion of my long term investment bags using the daily, secondly: trade BTC margin low leverage on the 4h, where I layer in 30% close to signal as poss, then layer in 30% if on the following candle the price retraces to mid trigger-candle, and enter final position IF price ever retraces to open (that’s only happened once!) I’ve found that my longs have been successful even if not fully entered. Finally, I have completed a handful of short term perpetual altcoin trades on the hourly, but this doesn’t really fit my lifestyle working full time. Has been profitable so far where I do have time to keep an eye. I understand that IADSS may be more suited for this type of trading but never tried it. Long one - but hope it helps!! 🫡

I have recently purchased this model, and the backtesting data looks incredible. My only issue is that it feels unrealistic as you would never trade the bar open as you wouldn't know it is the entry signal until after the bar has opened. I am looking into using bar close as this seems more realistic, the backtested data doesn't look as beautiful, but still very good. Only 50% win rate or so but still high ROIs. Will keep working on it!

Don't these win rates exclude all false signals (with the benefit of hindsight) which is impossible to do during actual trading? Also, Heiken Ashi uses average prices so when a signal triggers on Heiken Ashi the actual purchase price will be higher and sale price lower? Thirdly, trading 'on signal' will result in multiple false signals whereas on candle close gives a win rate of around 30%?

Problem is we don't know what environment we are moving into - you can't just test 1 year ago as this is the current environment and hope that environment continues for your future investing of life 10-40 years. What matters is the long term, so you need to backtest 5 years and 10 years at least . That will give a better indication on the performance.

Problem I have with signals is they often "spit" the signal to buy or sell, then you act. Then the price continues to move against your trade, then you look back and the signal is gone from where you placed the trade and has moved to a new spot. (Say it generates a buy, the price continues down, then the signal disappears from where you placed the trade and re-appears to the new lower price, but too late your already in it). My question is, does this happen with this signal as well?

I noticed this too. Its unbelievable how many positive comments i see in this video like James has descended from heaven. Nobody even tried this indicator and blindly just say things like excellent work bla bla. I signed up last night and after playing around with all the settings i verified that you can never achieve those backtest results. not only that but real performance performance will underperform buy and hold coin/stocks. The reason is that the backtest is calculated with perfect entry price when indicator triggers which you cannot do and also the indicator is producing many false signals which disappear after a bit, if you executed you will lose trade. Today i cancelled my indicator and also unsubscribed from this YT channel. Lost my trust once I tried the real thing and they spreading bad info to make profit out of people it seems.

@@escapevelocityvideosI bought the ATR. I already have the RTI (Relative Trend Index free by Zeirmman) and I can say that the RTI is pretty much the same. It gives all the same buys and sells, maybe even earlier than the ATR. I will probably not renew ATR and will just use the RTI and make sure there is leeway of around 10 points on the average of the RTI before I actually enter a trade as that seems to be what the ATR is doing. I also have the Larsson line but it really lags. So much it really isn't useful TBH.

Yeah, so I used ATR for Render - 4h chart - Heikin Ashi. On the 8th there was a big candle up from 3.58 to 4.09$, but I got a buy signal only at 3.96. Today, the 9th I got a Sell signal at 3.80$(again, big candle down, from 3.96 until 3.80) so I'm down 4-5%. No problem, BUT the ATR backtest is showing me +5.31% ROI which is a LIE. Of course I'm not going to close the position, but this is NOT OK. The chart is showing the buy signal at the bottom of the candle at 3.57$ but in reality it appeared at 3.96 which is 10% later, which is misleading. I need some clarifications here, is there something I'm doing wrong ?

yes there is definitely something you are doing wrong. I'm going to guess you bought this without knowing what repainting is. I suggest you look it up on the trading view website. If your poor performance continues while the atr continues to show profit, then leave an unfavorable comment on the forum page. James will quietly remove your comment, remove your membership and refund your money... - and no one will be the wiser. But you will have your money back

No,its not just you. I found the issue with the ATR - its an issue that plagues a lot of indicators on trading view. Its called "repainting".. This is where it will signal a buy/sell alert but then a few candles later it will move the buy/sell alert to a different candle as more data is available through new candles. If you ended up buying/selling at the intial alert now you you go back and find the alert doesn't exist where you actioned. Of course, backtests will always show good results because the alerts are set working on a miracle called hindesight. I hope Invest Answers team sees this and fix this bug with repainting issues so that it is useable and reliable.

@@aakashmehra2654 I just stopped using the model. I think you have to use several models to get a more accurate result and I don't have that much money to spend. I'm just using Fibonacci retracements, bollinger bands and 200MA indicators, they are free and you get similar results. And I'm also on patreon so it's enough for me.

So James, I watched the video for the second time, I notice that you first say, it is designed for at least the 12hour timeframe or higher, but then you also say you have been testing it on the 15 min timeframe on SOL any more assets, so can you please let us know the verdict on the usable timeframes? Does this perhaps mean that low timeframes work on more volatile assets such as crypto ALTs? Also to meet the projected ROI, do you keep re-investing the entire capital to compound?
