Thank you both. Really valuable to take in these perspectives and insights on the psychedelics and mental health. Grateful to Dr. Strassman for laying the groundwork for many of the paths that are continuing to be explored.

Quite an unflinching look at the possibilities of enhancing psychotherapy w/ various kinds of psychedelics. I had a peak experience in college w/ peyote buttons that I was never able to re-visit & I eventually gave up all use b/c I had to come down & I found that ultimately very depressing, so I went the yoga & meditation route to get there permanently, so to speak. Very interesting topic!!

In my mind, please understand this is a layman’s view. I think some people need that perspective give by drug x so later through meditation that can find that place again.

@@truefact844 So very true! In one sense, drug experimentation is a way to discern the real from the unreal, the permanent versus the impermanent. One fairly quickly finds that getting "high" only goes so far up & lasts briefly.

Awesome!! ❤ Thank you both. As a long-time consciousness researcher, I recognize the fundamental importance of both of these people’s life’s work and experiences 😊❤. It’s far more important than most people recognize in my estimation. There is still much humans don’t know. We shouldn’t let our hubris and the growing complexity of our information blind us to this fact. In many ways I write about in my own books, we are just getting started. ❤️🔥👁️❤️🔥

I agree that the benefits of the psychedelics have been glorified and the dangers minimised. Sometimes I listen to supposedly serious people in podcasts, even scientists, talking about their experience with such enthusiasm, like they are in their 20s in the club.

You do know there was a lot of anti- psychedelic propaganda, especially back in the 60s. And the " dangers" are minimal compared to the possibility of enlightened change in mindsets.
@ElenaEv11 сағат бұрын
@@Graham_Street I am not sure all of it was propaganda. I think a part of it was just middle class individuals observing a completely novel idea that looked scary for the mindset of the time without a proper point of reference. And concerning the dangers, I appreciate a weighted perspective especially from the scientific community.

Anyone thinking of trying these things, make sure you are with people that care for you. You have to be in a safe space. I would not suggest doing on your own, unless you have experience with them before. Be careful it’s easy to break your mind and harder to put it back together. I am sure this man had some experiences that would have him sitting down a have four years of therapy.

Zen is a form of Buddhist medication that is rather hard and Bodhidharma lost use of his legs from sitting so long and then developed the martial arts from understanding his mistakes. Dzogchen is the Pinnacle of Buddhist understanding though and I have yet to se you interview a master of that teaching. Self liberation is the realization that mind and experience liberate themselves once the introduction to your true nature of awareness is given and Zen doesn't teach that.
