He, and his friends, don't just "forget" important equipment for the hunt. What an utter failure the RCMP are for allowing this man to perpetrate a crime and go unpunished. Poor children. Did Fifth Estate think about interviewing the man she had texted looking for advice on divorce? Someone in that town knows something. Case law changes day to day, but the current standard for declaring blood as evidence of murder requires a substantial amount of blood be found such that any reasonable person observing it would agree that enough blood was lost to cause death to the average person.

This is a case of Wrongful Conviction waiting to happen. It is only the pathological grief of those around this victim that makes them blind to the fact that the RCMP can't arrest someone w/o Evidence. "Circumstantial evidence" is just a legal term for "a coincidence", and nothing more. You can't arrest someone just for "coincidences", no matter how compelling they are, if they aren't tied to Reality by some "hard evidence". Otherwise, any such case based solely on "circumstantial evidence" can't be discriminated from pure fantasy. Yet, as I've seen many times before, the family's nonstop badgering of police may yet lead to the conviction of the husband. Given the "evidence" presented here, there is NO Way that I would vote "guilty" on this husband if I were on his jury. Dear Litha: There is NO Way that I would EVER take a lie detector test. In the USA, lie detector tests are considered SO Unreliable that they are not even allowed as evidence in court. SO, what kind of a FOOL would submit to a test that has NO Legal Validity. The shame is that the courts still allow the police to use this unreliable test. I don't know much about hunting, but is it normal to go duck hunting alone? In addition, weren't there any other hunters that could witness on the times and where exactly he was at the time of the disappearance. It does not seem to be a coincidence at all that he happened to want to go hunting and need the victim to stay at his house. It seems well planned out, and the sloppy investigation tends to indicate that someones in that department got paid big money.

The saddest thing is the loss, the unknown, the why, where and how. She is gone and not of her own account. Her children have lost trust with their father, the police and need justice. Her family would be in turmoil. Without answers the unknown is haunting. The lack of police support from day one has compromised this whole case. I pray for her children, and family. PLUS...check not just the cabin area-but also Dean’s tools, chipper (if he owns one). Have search professionals use a radar machine (ground ex ray) to examine the brush area they believe she was buried. PS-the husband said ‘my 3 girls were everything to me. They still are’. PAST TENSE WORDS. As if he knows she is dead. Think like a detective, and you WILL locate her. Praying God gives you direction 🙏🏼

Your insight I can relate to Hayley. As for the questionable RCMP investigation, sadly some in uniform are people that may have not had the necessary training needed. And I have accompanied family male members that own fishing barges that often one person goes out on a barge alone. Social time with other fishermen is spent at bars after long rough hours at sea and rest assure someone suspects and knows something that they may not be aware of. Also, when a disappearance such as in Jennifer's case develops those in position of investigation work to discourage the hysteria. Fear. Once the calmness embraces the family, friends & people in that community someone will recollect seeing and/or hearing something and it''s important that it be reported. I learned about this from training in a military cadet organization in search & rescue. Prayer is important.

The husband sent Jennifer several texts on the night of the disspearence, ”to make sure Jennifer was commin”. There’s a good chanse he sent those texts from the house or in the immediate vincinity. When Jennifer arrived she allegedly sendt her daughter a text saying that she didn’t feel well and was going to bed. But we don’t know if it actually was Jennifer who sent that text to her daughter. Her teenage daughter probably saw that as an opportunity to stay out late and sneak in the back door (not risking waking up her mother) which in fact is exactly what the Daughter did - and what her father counted on if he infact sent that text from Jennifers cell phone. That means there is a gap of several hours missing from the timeline for both Jennifer and her husband. Which would leave him plenty of time to dispose of her body. I bet she is buried somewhere inbetween the house and his hunting cottage. And I bet that some of his huntingbuddies and/or old schoolmates have a fairly good idea where that spot is at. People tend to go to places they already know. As the poster says: Somebody knows something. The first thing I would do is to trace his cellphone activity on the night in question to see wich celltowers were pinged. That would establish his movements and timeline. I would also interview everyone close to him, even back from his childhood, and ask them where they think that someone would have dumped a body on on that stretch of road. You may very well get a straight answer to such a question since they don’t have to feel incriminated, jumbled up with misguided loyalty to the possible suspect. One thing all good cops know is that loyalty change over time and alliances break. Sooner or later someone will start to talk. My heart goes out to Jennifers family and friends.

Scientifically proven as unreliable. Different people have different triggers of being nervous. Just because a person is nervous doesn't mean they are unable to tell the truth. Lie detector tests go off everything that the human body does when nervous.

At first Dean lied about where he was on the night of Jennifer's disappearance. Then had to change his story when the truth was revealed. This guy reeks of the prime suspect. Ok, so let's get this straight. First, he finds a way to arrange for his wife, who wants to leave him, to be at his home. He claims he is going duck hunting for a week. The planning required for a trip of that length is substantial, even for an experienced hunter. Yet somehow, he leaves the decoys at home??? And even tho he's only 45 minutes away, he waits til day 4 to return for the decoys that are essential to duck hunting. And he initially misleads CBC--only when confronted with the fact does he admit he was actually at his home the night of Jennifer's disappearance. So as far as the RCMP would know, Jennifer's husband at that point looked like the last person to see her alive. Which would make his house/vehicle etc potential crime scenes. AND YET, the RCMP waited a week to even begin forensics. Terrible unprofessional initial investigation. And unfortunately that initial sloppy police work is usually the reason why a crime like this remains unsolved.

It is so strange that it was not known until watching this episode, that Dean went back to the home the night she went missing.....if he was only in the garage, how did he know she was texting another man? Also, Does the younger daughter know more? What a horrible situation for his children. The comment he made “ my three girls “was” the most important to me..... I pray that there is closure for the family. Time will close this case.....the more Dean talks, the more that will be revealed. Awe, her friends and family love her so much- makes me want to cry. I know what it’s like to fear a husband you are separating from- in my case it was terrifying. They were all looking out for her and the SOB still got her. How can people do this kind of thing to their own children. Losing a parent at their young age on top of the turmoil of the separation and parents not getting along- smh, those poor kiddos. Statistically, I feel that he did it as murders are usually committed by a romantic partner. Also, the fact that she was staying in his house, and disappeared on the one night he came back as well as the fact that he all of a sudden needed his decoys after he'd already been away on the trip for days is more than unsettling. And I feel for the daughters, especially the older one. She seemed so conflicted, but she's also conflicting in her stories about how she felt. She said at first she didn't think there was anything wrong. Then she's upset that they didn't come into the house to do a search for 7 days. If I was an officer and the daughter of the victim said oh well there's nothing wrong I don't really think we should be worried, then I'm going to feel like there shouldn't be anything to be worried about. She said they were good friends in that her mother did open up to her, then if my mother had opened up to me that she was fearful, and then I found out that she just disappeared from a house, my 1st thought isn't going to be oh well it's OK. I know I'm from the States, but in a case like this, is a search warrant needed in Canada? In the US, there is a need for a search warrant and unless there are obvious signs such as furniture overturned or things like that, a search warrant is not going to be approved. Also, without a body it would be hard to get a search warrant. I've seen more than one documentary where the families blamed the police for lack of progress, but when it comes down to it, it's either the attorneys or the Judiciary who won't move forward. They won't approve the search warrant. It's very possible that the police have done everything that they could within the bounds of the law, but then get derailed because they can't get a search warrant or get a test that they need done. And to protect the integrity of the case, there are limits as far as what they can say. I have had a family member murdered, wrong place wrong time. I wanted justice but I knew that it had to come in time. I knew things have to be done properly or when it went to court there could be a chance of not getting the verdict that we wanted. It would either be thrown out of court because evidence had to be thrown out or the jury would come to a hung jury. While there is a 99.999% chance that he did do it, to ensure the rights of everyone else going forward Khama things have to be done in a certain way. If things were reversed and it was a family member that was being accused with literally no physical evidence, then they would feel differently. I admit that I do read too much to crime and probably watched too much true kwime, but I'm also a very analytical person and try to look at things straight down the middle. I will say though that probably 15 years ago, I would have then saying I 100% believe he did it and have been very outspoken about that period but within those 15 years my cousin was shot and killed. IPad a family member falsely accused of something and go to jail and his life has been ruined. The person admitted they lied later. I just feel that to uphold the rights of everyone, then the rights need to be upheld for everyone.

When people say there is no way she was suicidal, no way! I was suicidal for 2yrs and NO ONE knew, NO ONE. I continued my day to day life and when I went home every night I sat in the darkest corner of my home and made a list of ways to go, I fought with myself...looking back it was nuts. The thoughts consume you and the pain is so bad you can’t think of anyone but yourself. Anyway, I hope they solve this one day. Prayers to the family, the ones left behind...in pain.

I only found the fifth estate a few days ago and have been binge watching episodes. I have loved so many of the reports. I have to say though that I haven't been a fan of Mark Kelly's reports though and this one in particular has left a sour taste in my mouth. I understand skirting around a gag order is difficult. However while the fifth estate normally tries to provide balance this particular tabloid sensationalise video seemed more like it belongs on true crime daily. No actual evidence. Tunnel vision. No exploration of the facts. No exploration of other people in her life. A contradictory position that she'd never just run off when she had definitive plans to leave. An unreasonable approach to the RCMP investigation into a missing person where there were no signs of a struggle and people absolutely do just walk out under similar circumstances. It is now a year on from your story airing and the RCMP still have not named a suspect let alone made an arrest. Indeed they still appear not entirely convinced foul play took place at all. What is this video?
