I lived on the military base in Puerto Rico, specially in Ceiba. My parents were in the military. Puerto Rico is so beautiful and from my experience the people on the island are so friendly and giving. They loved to share their culture and incredible food. We took the boat to Vieques and explored the island. I liked the smaller community on Vieques even more. We were even lucky enough to experience the bioluminescent Mosquito Bay. At the time of my visit, they still allowed tourists to swim in the bay. I forgot my bathing suit so I missed out, but the view from the boat was still amazing. I thought it was neat to see the larger fish moving through the water because as they swam, they stirred up dinoflagellates from the microorganisms and the water glowed all around us. It was spectacular and I highly recommend it to everyone. Always remember one thing about exploring, leave the land just as you’ve found it. That way it will be there in the future for others to explore.

Superb video. I probably learned more about Puerto Rico from two or three guys on the beach here then I ever knew before. Your interview style clearly puts people at ease and by trusting you they open up fully. Add in an incredible talent for storytelling in the edit and it's really a dream team. The cuts from 14:45-14:50 are just one example of how ridiculously good this is. Keep it up guys, I'm allready excited for your next video:-)

Again what a great video guys! I never really thought before that the disasters in Puerto Rico are covered in the news less and receive less funding in the US than other natural disasters in states like Texas and Louisiana, it’s really horrible and these peoples stories really put a good perspective on it.

I'm Puerto Rican, great video, but Puerto Rico is not America, Puerto Rico is Puerto Rico. Its even written down into law in the supreme court that Puerto Rico belongs to but is not a part of the US. I do not want Puerto Rico to become a state and from all the research I've done, it's near to impossible to happen with all the obstacles in its way, and if somehow it did happen it would be extremely detrimental to both the US and Puerto Rico financially, politically, and culturally. Yes we do have a huge problem on the island with that Stockholm syndrome colonialism mindset, I've heard many Puerto Ricans say "We can't be a nation on our own" or "If the US leaves we'll all die". And the most brainwashed people are the ones who push for statehood, believing that somehow if Puerto Rico is fully annexed into the US, it would be a magic wand fix to all the islands problems, which is false. It's a known fact on the island that the referendums are just political ploys by the extremely corrupt pro-statehood party PNP just to bring more of their ignorant and gullible supporters out to vote for them in the gubernatorial elections. And not only is it the colonialism mindset, its also just party tribalism that's a big problem, these corrupt politicians keep getting put back into office because people vote for the parties like its sports teams. Also one more thing, that Gulf Gas Station is right by my house.

My grandfather fought in Korea and told me about the Puerto Ricans who served as valiantly as anyone else. The fact that they can't vote is complete bullshit, they can die for the US but not vote?? I think they should have their independence. Anyway, my son is half Puerto Rican and so are my 2 nephews and someday I'd love to visit with them so they can see the other side of where their family came from. Great video 💪💪💪
