Another great video BRS! What used to take hours upon hours of reading, sifting and figuring out who you could trust now takes 30 minutes with an easy to follow video. I used Radions back in the day and they just weren't for me. To be fair, that goes for about 6 other LED fixtures as well. Every LED fixture I have tested, used and/or reviewed had the same flaws and the G4 still has them. That disco ball effect and separation of colors drives me insane. Once I see it in a tank, I can never not see it again. I really hope Ecotech has a diffuser of some kind in the works. Philips has proven just how well that concept works.

You guys should put out a video on the Ecotech MP pumps that documents all the different modes, sync vs anti sync and all the features they provide. KZbin is lacking for quality Vortech videos.

I have the XR15 G4 95 watt. To calculate an approximate PAR for the XR15 G4, can I simply reduce the PARs in this video for the XR30 G4 Pro 190 Watt by 50% (using 100% intensity, light mounted at 9 inches above water, and using the 6, 12, and 18 inch depth points ) since the XR15 is a 95 watt fixture which is half the power?

Great series, I love how you have approached each light that you have done with the same goals. I am currently looking at a lighting solution for my mixed reef tank and this has been a great review of what's out there. Would love to see the Kessil AP700 done with this review as i think it is a much more fair comparison to the Echo Tech but i guess the 4 awe360 would be close too when compared to 2 Radions

Great video as always! My major concern with the G4 pros is the 'disco ball' effect which I find off putting (just as you commented!). If they had only fixed this with the new model it would be an easy decision for me. Have you had much experience with the GHL mitras lights as for most accounts I can find it is very limited with this fixture? I know you have limited time and budget but it would be great to get your insight and evaluation of this fixture. Much appreciated!

However, just seeing the available templates, etc for the Radions makes me want to swap out my AI Hydra 26HD for the XR30w. Maybe I'll win one! Question - If you already have an Apex and went with Radions, do you need Reeflink to access the various templates and night settings or are these exposed in the Apex?

After seeing all the light defusing lenses, wouldn't it be better to use a light defusing aquarium top cover? Diffuse light, stop evaporation and keep livestock In? I would think this a practical solution.
@portwolf22937 жыл бұрын
My experience with tank covers is the ability to cut out the back edge, with an aquarium fan for ventilation that could even be ducted and filtered with outside air, or maybe even a cheap air pump or aquaculture Blower. Keep in mind I never mentioned introducing air directly into the water.
@portwolf22937 жыл бұрын
As for mounting lights high and bleed over, I'd consider reflecting tape covering the inside of a wood canopy, should also protect the wood from moisture. And reduce shadowing. I've also thought of mirror tent on the back of an aquarium for reflecting light, eliminating shadowing in the back of the tank, and viewing problems you may not see from the front of the tank. I have more input where this came from.

So people are actually spending $3,200 on lights alone for a 4 foot tank?
@Iffrat7 жыл бұрын
BulkReefSupplyCom true. I guess it's all relative to the playground you play in. Just seems like some other options would provide the same kind of offerings at less money. I don't see how this is the best $3,200 lighting option but I am far far far from an expert. Thanks for showing it off tho as I would never have the ability to afford this kind of setup it offers me insight on a subject that I couldn't get otherwise.

Great light when it works. In Australia when you have problems, it's almost impossible to get it fixed properly because the distributor here tries to save a couple dollars by doing the repairs himself so it never gets done properly. I had to send my lights back and forth 3 times and wait 6 weeks whilst he was on holidays. It's ashame ecotech doesn't supply and service their products properly in Australia rather than a dry goods wholesaler who knows nothing about electronic goods. Until ecotech changes this model, I and and many others won't be buying anything ecotech.
