I remember as a kid in Florida , just walking up on tabby homes out in my running around . I was fascinated by them back then , now I love them . Just see beauty in the simplicity 😊👍👍🇺🇸

I think my grandfather built some of his fishing camp cabins out of this. Been standing for 80 years now. Grandma told me he made his own concrete mix made from seashells. Made molds for the walls. She said he learned how to do it in Florida. Cool stuff.

Growing up in Florida i remember playing and slamming into tabby walls with my friends getting scraped up. Not pleasant. When those tabby walls get wet they are slimey and smell rotten. I have seen snails on them as well.

The irony is that the slave quarters would have been more comfortable heat-wise than the wood-framed house that the Kingsley Family lived in. The walls of the slave cabins are still standing, but the house has been closed because termite damage has rendered it unsafe to enter.
