Hi, I am trying to get an advisor for guidance but it's harder than you think. I am a doctor and the field of finance is not that close to me so far, but I am eager to bridge that gap. Starting with ETFs is my goal but with so many to pick from it's confusing the majority of the time. Do you know if your advisor is willing to consult with clients in other geographical areas?

The thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. $52k dividends received in 2022.

I agree! That's why it is advisable that you have to invest while you still have a regular job or earning a regular income, and do it constantly. You still need to have something that will keep you going even if you're investing. Good financial planning and money allocation is the key.

The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.

I believe the retirement crisis will get even worse. Many struggle to save due to low wages, rising prices, and exorbitant rents. With homeownership becoming unattainable for middle-class Americans, they may not have a home to rely on for retirement either.

Great interview. I probably watch Armchair more than anyone else because we are both retired doing exactly the same thing. I would also recommend your channel and dividend bull. Yes, I no long get the occasional 1.0 to 1.4 million gain in one year. I also avoid the 500K+ losses. However, after income investing for 3 years I am approaching a 7 figure income, even if the general market doesn't gain a dime. My hope is the "snowball" will keep me out of "-" years as in theory it will act as a buffer in down markets. We'll see about that. I have learned to stay humble:) Thanks Dave...

Great tutorial on Income investing! I switched from value to income investing about 3 years ago with the help of Armchair and Dividend Bull. The income has really snowballed and I am totally happy with the results. Selling your holdings to fund your retirement creates a lot of stress and uncertainty. With steady dividend income, however, you know exactly how much funds are coming in and hopefully, you can build up your portfolio to the point where you won't have to sell anything in the retirement years

2 of my favorites. I'm going for an income/dividend growth hybrid. Armchair Income is smart enough to reinvest a portion of his income to ensure income growth. This seems to be working during "normal" market condition. But I wonder how his strategy would work in an extended bear market (tech bubble, GFC, etc.)? I'm expecting income reduction even with my hybrid approach.

Good question... It would depend on the ETFs sustaining there distribution levels. I would suspect many would reduce and recovery would likely be slower versus growth. The pandemic is probably a poor comparison since it was short but Armchair did say his products held up well during that time.

Total return is always going to benefit you in the long run. If the value of one of your holdings goes up significantly, you can sell some of the stock. It's taxable, just like your dividends are (unless within a Roth). I would never give up total return for a smaller total return but with income. It just doesn't make sense.

I agree. Total return should be our primary driver. However, in retirement, giving up some gains for a more consistent return is quite attractive to many investors. Often just depends on your risk profile.

yes, but I keep getting mixed answers on this. other people say because its based on options, as long as the NAV doesn’t tank too much, if volatility is high, they can still maintain the distribution

Thank you both for sharing a great conversation! Other than funds expense ratio, does brokerage company, such as Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab’s charge any kind of fee to purchase any of his suggested funds ? Thanks.
@wealthadventures

Fidelity and Etrade do not. Most have gone away from those types of fees but always good to check.

Not sure why one would have BDCS and REITs because they only produce ordinary dividends which are taxed higher. Also, why not just invest in the S&P 500 and shave off long term capital gains to pay bills?

I tend to agree but he has decided to really focus on the income side of things. He is also in retirement so he is likely in a lower tax bracket.

Thank you very much for your work. I love listening to your podcasts. I would like to ask you. Which ETF would you recommend for long therm investing in SP500. I am especially interested in ETF which do not distribute SP500 dividends but reinvest them. Thank you and good luck Dave

Option premium income on spyi qqqi not taxed yearly if labeled roc but what if its not labeled that whats tax?
@wealthadventures
@wealthadventures 2 ай бұрын
Not tax advice but... I would expect dividends from stocks would become long term capital gains and option premium would be short term or ordinary income.

Thank you very much, Dave; this is the perfect timing for me as I'm starting to research this topic deeply. I have a dividend portfolio, but I am starting to tone it. Please consider this concept and do more videos, as it is important for us (above the 40s) to focus on it and not delay more.

this works if u already have the capital. At 11% return u need a cool million to get 110k before taxes. If u have that is ok otherwise i prefer to be active and look for 20 % a year to grow.

Higher return higher risk! If you don't have a large account can you take higher risks?
@motrader273
@motrader273 2 ай бұрын
@@wealthadventures it the other way around. If you don’t have a big account you have to risk more so you can grow it. If i reach my capital target (1.5 to 2 mil) then i can cruise and the strategy presented in the vlog will be fine.
