I've been a subscriber for a long time and I don't usually comment under videos in general, but when you said 12 properties, and then spending a month in each, that really got to me because I have a similar idea, also went to Thailand last year, visited Sicily as well and planning to move my family there in the next year or so, and continue my remote work which i'm contracted to do for the next 3 years so that definitely gives a sense of security. I think an interesting thing that might sound unrelated, is that people should see things from different perspectives and adapt to different situations, for example, I know that I can't really make a successful business out of cooking/running a restaurant as a foreigner in China, but if I turn this around and move this idea to Sicily for example, running a restaurant with the knowledge I gathered in China in the past almost 8 years, I can bring something new to the table which can help me move forward and open new doors with opportunities behind them. Also, diversifying and gaining new skills is a very important thing, I have a degree and everything, but I couldn't succeed in the UK, so I moved to a new country, gained all the skills that I thought were useful, and now I have so many opportunities in front of me and so many skills that will help me to come up with new ideas and new solutions to problems that previously would've put me back on square 1. Karl, great video, and a fantastic insight into what living internationally is really like, backing it up with real life experiences.

@@Karl__Pierre I have one on the Space Coast. Yes, Chicago ended up making it very difficult to do Airbnb anyway. I guess I was fortunate to leave before it got bad.

You could add one more thing to these videos, what you’re doing is great because you’re also diversifying the US dollar which ultimately can plummet as well. Ultimately, when you gain the inside and experience that you accumulated, you can always make it, but having real estate that works for you all over the world, increases your chances them being stuck in one country .

This really struck me very hard - I have always felt a little.. empty living in one country. I feel like I appreciate all places more when you have to reboot in another culture for a period. After a period, backpacking didn't feel like enough, dont wanna be a tourist. I want a neighborhood, a routine in another place, grocery shopping so we began home trading (1-3 months) in 2000. Real estate began accidentally in 2010 leading to 6 very active STRs and we've been living between Cali and New Orleans for 13 years, and realizing I qualify for Italian citizenship through ancestry - we "lived" in Sicily for 3 months in 2015, and at that time the Wifi infrastructure wasn't amenable to working remotely but that has changed now. Was just speaking to a friend about your $40K property and I did message your website last week about an appointment but haven't heard back. Great content.

@@mysterioanonymous3206 I’ve been there for like 4 weeks, really liked the culture and people. Guess it’s hot, but I’m looking to establish like 2 or more bases outside my home country, not planning on staying there full time or working. 24k for fully furnished classical houses is just so crazy, 20 min from the sea, how could you not want one :D I have the theory that everything going online will eventually start to dissolve cities and remote places will catch up in value.

Properties in Spain and Italy tend to be passed down in families so there is not a lot of sales like there are in the US with prices going up year on year..
@Karl__Pierre
@Karl__Pierre 10 ай бұрын
One could argue since properties get passed through to the family the prices should be higher since there is less inventory no?

How do you manager your Airbnb guests when you are in different countries? Like the cleaning and check in/out of guests?
@Karl__Pierre
@Karl__Pierre 10 ай бұрын
Cleaning is hired out, check in is self check in with a lock box or key card. In Colombia the door man handles check in. I don't do much only get involved with questions as times. Most responses are automated. Hope that helps.

He ends up paying so much in cleaning fees and managing fees to different companies. In the end, I don't think it's really worth the trouble. After tax, insurance and aggravation, there is not much left.
@Karl__Pierre
@Karl__Pierre 10 ай бұрын
@sophielabelle3324 all depends on how much is left and how much time/capital you invested. Say your take away is $800 a month for 1 hour of work and startup cost of 10,000. Is that too much work? What if you have 40x that and then you hire an operator for 5,000 a month is it worth it?

Why is a big property developer doing a You Tube channel ??
@Karl__Pierre
@Karl__Pierre 10 ай бұрын
Well ...I'm not a big property developer, but I can answer why I have you youtube channels. I like to talk, I like to create, they help me expand my brand and network, and I will continue with social media creation for the rest of my life. I think all businesses and brands, regardless of level of success show develop an audience. Look at Donald Trump, Kim Kardashian, and many others it's a powerful marketing and promo tool.
