@Labour Law Advisor pls could you make a video on mutual fund taxation. 1) How do we need to pay the tax when we redeem (thru IT return?). 2) Are there any tax saving strategies like tax harvesting, rebalancing (need to know what are these) OR is it good to only redeem only say after my goal of 20 yrs (eg.) and pay 10% tax in the end? 3) Also, when is the right time to exit? 2 3 yrs before when we need the funds?... To take care of any market fluctuations. 4) what is indexation? Many are clueless wrt to MF taxation, any video on this topic would be really helpful - Thanks.

Sir I didn't understand last blunder. You only said in some previous video that tax won't be applied for upto 1 lakh rs. So it is best to withdraw and re-invest when the value is around 1 lakh.

Its worse here, our economy is like a flailing fish, fighting for its life. The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining.

People believe their currency has the worth it does because they have no other option. Even in a hyperinflationary environment, individuals must continue to use their hyperinflationary currency since they likely have minimal access to other currencies or gold/silver coins.

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

Great video! I'm still kinda confused about expense ratio though. If returns and NAVs are calculated after factoring in expense ratios, then why do we even need to bother?!
@LabourLawAdvisor
@LabourLawAdvisor 2 жыл бұрын
1. High expenses being deducted from NAV automatically means lower return. This is important, same MF will have 2 versions: regular and direct. Regular plan will have a higher expense ratio. Meaning, returns from the direct plan will be higher than those of regular plan even though it is the same mutual fund. 2. You would want to know which mutual funds fail to beat their benchmark and yet charge a high expense ratio. It's a sign to stay away from them. Only if a mutual fund justifies expense ratio by its performance, we need not worry.

Thanks for informative content. I am asking very simple question, lets consider I want to invest 50k monthly then 25k each in two funds or 10k each in 5 funds. I believe 25k each in two funds is more riskier than 10k each in 5 funds. Everyone says Portfolio should be diversified so 10k each in 5 funds would be ideal scenario. Another concern about sector fund but I believe some sectors funds like ICICI prudential technology funds are giving consistent returns over several past years so its not bad to put sector fund in portfolio might be only 20% allocation from entire portfolio and its all depends on requirements. In long term perspective sectors fund are quite good specially IT sectors which always outperform other sectors in long term 10 to 15 years

very well explained. thank you. only thing is your view on sectorial/thematic funds. you're right on pharma example. ppl we should not have herd mentality. but imagine who started SIP in pharma 5 or may be 7 years ago.. if one has some knowledge and long term horizon, can take some calculated risk..not more than 5 or 10%.

Bhai my dad had a similar portfolio. He had 34 MFs in his portfolio. He had just 4 index funds of different fund houses. Cut the clutter in 2019. Quant active fund Quant smallcap fund & everyone's dear PPFAS. A bit on the risky side but barely any overlap and I believe it will work well with the time horizon of 10years.

I select my Mutual Fund Schemes by looking at various criterias. It's not based on any one point like expense ratio, coz for me returns are more important than the price I pay for that return. Basically it's the net return we get. Love ❤ Labour Law posts. I'm happy to say that I'm not part of any of those blunders...

Good morning sir. I plan i invest 1lakh in SBI multicap fund which has current NAV of 10.9 My reasoning is this: SBI has consistently performed well across all segments of MF (Small,Mid,Large,Flexi,ELSS) And the fund managers of this scheme have managed other SBI mutual funds successfully. So i am confident that the NAV of this scheme won't be around 10 or lower after 2years. I expect it to cross 20NAV in two years based on performance of other Sbi MFs. Is my reasoning correct?

My mistake is having too many mutual funds. To be fair, a large number of them are debt funds. I used to buy into different debt funds so as seperate them by Capital Gains tax period. And then these segregated portfolios added to the number. I do have a large number of equity funds. Yes I do get attracted to "shiny new objects"😂 but I don't sell my old funds unless their are underperforming.

Panic selling, expense ratio being the primary reason to invest in a particular MF, absolute returns, sectoral investing. Although panic selling being the biggest mistake.

Thank you for this information, Mandeep !! I have around 6-7 MF in my folio of different categories and sectors. All are giving good returns so far. But Mandeep your point is right to have minimal of MFs in folio which covers most of sectors. I have one question - Can we directly invest in the stocks in which MFs are investing ? So instead of having 4-5 MFs, I can have selected 10-15 stocks in my folio in which those MFs were investing.

Hi LLA Team Your videos are definitely very helpful, big fan and follower. I am beginner in stock investment, so I stick to mutual fund. I have one question, this is coming from a statement made by Michael Burry Index funds are good, they generate better returns as well. But if majority people invest in index only, even though they have that level value or not. Will there be any chances of bubble because of blindly investing in Index? What are your suggestions? Looking forward for video or any thoughts. Thanks, Nikhil
@mohithooda5769
@mohithooda5769 Жыл бұрын
Nah it won't. Most people do not invest in index funds, and even if they do, it's barely 5-10% of their portfolio. As the fund tracks the nifty index, chances of it bursting are very less.
