Guys, many of you have commented with queries regarding charges to invest in US stocks so here's something that will clear all your questions regarding charges associated with buying US Stocks - 1) US A/C Opening Fees - Nil for INDmoney but maybe charged by others 2) US Stock A/C Maintenance Charges (Annual or for minimum balance) - Nil for INDmoney. Some players charge for buying stocks. 3) Buying and selling US Stocks - Attracts a commission charged by the US broker Drivewealth (similar to commission we pay to Indian Brokers when we buy and sell Indian stocks) - Charges are Nil for INDmoney - while some other platform charge a fee 4) Loading your US Stock account with USD requires converting INR from your Indian Bank account to USD - this has 2 charges -> a. All Banks charge a FLAT fee (Rs 500 - Rs 1500/- depending on amount you want to convert) b. Conversion rate - which is the amount in INR you need to buy USD - most banks have a 2-3% markup on this - so for 1 USD you may end up paying Interbank Rate + 2 to 3 % .. this charge is levied by your Bank and not by INDmoney. 5) When you sell your US Shares - and want to convert dollars back into rupees - then you have to pay money for: a) flat fee - you will be charged $ 20 - and there will be 2 to 3% markup in converting the USD back into INR INDmoney is shortly launching something very exciting which will make the flat fees charged by banks as zero - and make the currency exchange rate more competitive! The US Stock exchange operates in EST (Easter Standard time). It changes to EDT( Easter Daylight savings time) during summer, which is one hour different from EST. That is the reason why time changes with respect to IST (Indian Standard Time).
