Thanks a lot ! i got 2 questions 1. P/E ratio (Price earning ratio) in other words means, how many years it will take to cover your investment? 2. How can we decide it's a good ratio or bad? any number range ?
@investorthink4 жыл бұрын
PE must be compared against a benchmark for you to take the decision, I'm sure I discussed it, anyhow seems many asking it again, I'll address it in a video

How did you come to the decision it takes 4.39 years to cover the investment? Can you explain, bit confusing how we can decide like that? Thank you so much for this video :)
@investorthink4 жыл бұрын
Your investment is the share price. So for eg if you buy 1 share at Rs 150 and that share gives Rs50 earning per share, then assuming EPS to remain constant for 3 years ahead, it will take 3 years to generate total earnings of rs 150. When you buy 1 share you have the ownership of that company proportionate to that 1 share in every aspects including earnings.
@sandunk20034 жыл бұрын
Brother, pls tell me this. In SAMP P/E calculation you had taken the year ended 2019 EPS and the 31/12/2019 last traded price. When calculating historical P/Es isn't it better to get the settled market price upon releasing of the financials? (may be month of March traded price). Because price always gets adjusted to present and future earnings isn't it ? Just asking. I may be wrong. Pls shed some light
@investorthink4 жыл бұрын
I took year end EPS because its not an estimation. If you compute it to march then you should take March EPS and annualize. So its obviously an estimation with assumptions.
@sandunk20034 жыл бұрын
@@investorthink No I got your point. As P/E is what's the price you are going to pay based on earnings I thought it would have been better to get the settled trading price after releasing of the financials is better (specifically relating to historical P/E calculations). Because if you take the 31/12/2019 traded price, which has not adjusted to coincide with the 2019 EPS as market was not aware of that info at that time. Am I missing something here ? My thinking is not valid ?
