​@@B1-997 I just now realized how terrifyingly powerful biovores are when I saw that one sucker sitting in the crack between two mountains, that level of mobility on your altylery piece means you can almost never detect it before it detects you, and you can rarely ever shoot first. Seeing how most imperial altylery pieces are stationary that's just such w huge advantage, dam even vs basilisks that thing is just several levels ahead. It may not seam like a big deal but I'm quite into warfare strategies and what actually works and what doesn't and let me tell you, biovores alone whould win wars ans this level of mobility with something that is both long range and can potentially destroy even a tank just means you can't really compeat against it with your heavy gear, and if your heavy hitters like tanks and altylery are down then what's left is infintry, wich even then can't defend vs a foe that doesn't care and constantly rushes, as this kind of defense requires stable positions wich you can't have because biovores will melt your face down. Even putting them on the toxic flank whould work, make the defenders stuck with smaller forms and blast them down, what they gonna do? Flank you? Gl with that. That being said tho that would require nids to create immune bioforms for them wich in term makes them more expensive, meaning the toxicrene is still more efficient. Still tho anywhere where thers cover biovores are just immense.

The sense of doom is intentional, 40k was always the story about how the Imperium of Man was absolutely, irrevocably fucked, whether from Chaos or aliens or internal incompetence, but it's so impossibly vast that its death-throes will take centuries, if not millennia to take place.

Not really. yeah the imperium of man and tau is screwed vs nids but Orks have a good chance, Eldar would at least deplete if not outright defeat nids due to literal black hole guns and the Necrons just counter nids on a fundamental level as they specialize in both disintegrating and not possessing biomater that the nids so heavily rely on.

They intentionally added one fatal flaw so that a Primarch could kill the Hive Mind, and then the whole tyranid race would explode. or they'll just open a warp rift and teleport entire hive fleets into the warp to go fight chaos forever.

This happens all the time, then they have to pull a win out of an Imperial’s behind. There’s a basic Tau battle suit that is said to be on par with space marines, and a planet could have BILLIONS of them. The Imperium did the great crusade with 2 million space marines. Why haven’t the Tau expanded like the imperium? Various reasons that require GW to rewrite stuff

To be fair, the nids also have to contend with the Silent King. The necrons are a hard counter against the nids. And the dark eldar can’t easily be reached by the hive mind. So if Asrubal Vect starts to feel the strain caused by having all their slave raid worlds eaten. Then the dark Eldar might get off their asses to kill some nids. The tyranids have adapted to counter the Orks and the humans. Because the tyranids see them as the greatest threat. But the other races can still counter the current nids.

@@jamesche7496 guardsmen rarely have millions of troops wasting a way in human wave tactics in most battles. There is a lot of small scale conflicts guardsmen have to deal with, other then a full planitary invasion, which is quite rare for most worlds. It was already stated at the start of this battle the size of this regions troop and vehicle numbers. To be honest the guardsmen are incredible for holding out with what they got. At the start. Infact, I think the Gene stealers should have been a much greater threat to the planet, then the series shows,

@@seankellygaller6902 Not sure if this is a joke comment, but the Crimson Fists are an Imperial Fists successor chapter, they were on the front page of the 1st and 2nd edition rulebooks, and the Space Marine 3rd edition Codex. They were the poster boys for space marines for a while, and a big part of their lore was that most of their chapter got killed during a heroic last stand when their homeworld got invaded by orcs.

@ the Crimson Fists were part of the second founding of Space Marines, their chapter master was Alexis Polux, he was an Imperial Fist who fought during the Horus Heresy. The Crimson Fists are shown wearing blue armor with a red fist on their shoulder. They were famously on the cover art for the 3rd edition of the Space Marine codex. During this time, games workshops were testing out which Space Marine to be their poster boy to slap on any cover art. After 3rd edition, the next Space Marine on the box cover were the Ultramarines during the first Tyranic war. From then on, the poster boys were the Ultramarines. The joke was to point out how long ago since the Crimson Fists were on the cover art which, as of 2024 is about 26 years ago.

This is by far the best production value quality video. We see so many animations, the use of environment to cause dread, i love the rockfall on the biovore. Amazing you guys are truly becoming masters of the craft

The biovore's phallic cannon has reasonably short range and must be used indirectly as their range is shorter than most imperial light, medium and heavy direct fire weaponry, such as autocannons, las cannons, and battle cannons(40" on tabletop vs 48"). And this is before you factor in use of tank guns in indirect fire, which would give a leman russ battle cannon considerably more range than that in flat firing. What's more the biovore has shorter range than standard Imperial mortars, wyvern mortar tanks and field guns which can provide effective counter battery fire(40" on tabletop vs 48"), medium sized guns such as the earshaker can out-range them handily(40" on the table top vs 240"), leaving manticores to hit with precise strikes important synapse creatures... Hive Tyrants are large and distinctive creatures, they might have greater control over the swarm, but they do not have the benefit of using most of said creatures as physical shields, even Hive Guard are much shorter and stockier. Anit tank teams should prioritise destroying these creatures where possible. Hive tyrants maybe tough and imposing, but the imposing can be made to work against them, and they are not tough enough to stop a las cannon from burning a hole through their chest, or to face tank a russ's battle cannon. The toxicerene on the other hand is an interesting prospect to overcome. The toxic smoke has additional utility in creating smoke screens to protect tyrannid synapse creatures from being targeted. Although my first instinct would be to shell the hell out of any green fog banks that mysteriously appear near my positions. If they could do the same thing with spore mines, and biovores it would be quite troubling. Although it must be noted that Imperial Guard Patrols are sorta expected to be wiped out and are expected to be the first warning of new enemy weapons, capabilities or tactics. If you lose a platoon of guardsmen and 6 sentinels learning just what a toxicrene can do, you will save hundreds of men in the future. Just as long as you don't keep making the same mistakes! You do handily demonstrate the weaknesses in vision that this latest model of the Sentinel has. This model shows a complete lack of defence in depth, secondary positions and a planned withdrawal are critical. Shortening of supply lines and the ever condensing of firepower are much more preferable than trying to hold strung out positions in a brittle single line of resistance. Supplies should be stocked in these positions and they should be manned by less reliable units like the PDF to provide general security, until such time that the guard can fall back and take up these positions. Stocks of shells should be pre designated for this purpose, and rearguard units should be chosen from men of a character who would hold their ground against the ending of a world itself. Highly mechanised units maybe able to carry out a reasonably clean break off of combat, owing to the greater speed of Imperial Tauroxes and Chimerras over that of tyrannid ground forms, particularly those that can actually damage the vehicles. Alternatively use of nuclear ordinance close to the line of contact could provide a clean break of contact with the swarm during this most drastic of maneuvers. Nothing is much more satisfying than making a rather clean break back to pre prepared fortifications, whilst vapourising a tyrannid assault wave, denying them of that biomass and the accumulated biomass of their previous assault waves.

@@nvmtt No I do not believe so, but it is by both appearance(more so in the older models), and mechanism and it uses muscle spasms to project spore mines. Spores in nature are reproductive bodies, essentially free floating sperm and eggs. Although to be fair I cannot think of better terms, and it's probably hard to make a biological cannon that does not either appear phallic or mimic how it works. Spore mines are obviously not reproductive bodies, but they have the legacy of the term that is used to describe them quite adequately. It's like the genestealer's 'osteo-depositor'. A perfectly suited description of a piece of anatomy used to penetrate a victim's body and deposit something inside(wasps for instance use them to lay eggs inside their prey- usually caterpillars or grubs). But on the other hand I find it amusing that it is how they create hybrids. I suspect it is a legacy of possible xeno sex cults back in old less PG 40k.

It is one thing to posses knowledge and another to understand it/ use it. Just like some people in real life are good at using knowledge and some aren't, some Tyranid queens are better at applying knowledge than others. Learning about WW1 means little if you fail to use it; and WW2 happened as a direct result of that failure to use learned knowledge not long after.

I think that is the point of this mini invasion series, to see all stages of a Nid invasion. I assume it will go on, until every last drop of resistence is no more on the planet. Maybe there might be some reinforcements to the planet to hinder the nids plans and see how the Nids deal with space marine chapter showing up, like they usealy do. That would be a nice touch though, can we have an inbound chapter show up to help the defences?

Yeah, the real way to beat the Terminids is to annihilate their hive ships from long range while they are still in deep space. Once they make landfall, your average planetary military isn't going to hold them off, you need super soldiers and/or orders of magnitude more Guard regiments.

@@Gibson7Clans Probably because orcs are literal mushrooms that can grow out of the ground, get bigger indefinitely as they fight, are strong enough to easily overpower any lesser bioforms, and don't need to worry about logistics because of the power of imagination.

What I can't stand about 40k writing is that there is never any fair writing. In the writers minds the question is never "What does this side need to win" and then giving them that, but is instead "How will this side win", resulting in the side that's "supposed" to win basically styling on the enemy and having all the initiative, with the losing side just existing to show how awesome the winning side is. It ends up with the writers just writing fanboy stuff about how awesome their favorite faction is by using the opponent as a punching bag time and time again, meaning that every faction ranges from ultra OP to terrible depending on what the favorite faction is of the writer of that specific text. That's how you end up with nids like these that has an answer for everything and is basically just playing with their food, and the guard that falls for every single stratagem that always makes the choice the nids want them to make. IMO it gets boring in the long run.
