I am doing a research to my next podcast at work and my thoughts wandered back to my times at Military Academy. For one faculty I wrote a paper about apartheid, about people's path to liberation. To be honest, I was inspired by this movie. I watched the film and I bought the book to get the bigger picture and... I knew, that I had to put the injustice-frustration down on paper. I was lucky enough to have a lecturer (teaching from the heart) who supported me in writing process and actually admired my work. And for that, I will be eternally grateful. But in this movie, this one scene that breaks me every time. No explanation necessary. Am I crying? Yes, yes I am.

Having the team tour the country giving clinics was part of Mandela's brilliance in getting what was originally a team for whites accepted as a team for all, and also to get the team to think of themselves as representatives of the entire nation.

Today I saw a Gwijo video from a school in SA supporting the springboks in this saturday's final. I saw black and white students singing in Xhosa for their rugby team and I cannot help but to shed some tears, thinking how powerful is forgiveness when people with vision sees beyond hatred. All because of Mandela's vision.

@Dude: We all should try to show love to each, because for the most part, we have it inside. History also shows us that the world works better this way. Not because God (who doesn't exist) wants to.

Hello Restless, this song is called The Crossing by Johnny Clegg (who unfortunately just passed away from brain cancer a few months ago, here is his version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3PTfnuuqb-Yg6M&feature=emb_title When he became sick, all the biggest names in South African music (including his son) came together and recorded a new version, and it is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXy6dnimdpV7obs (In my humble opinion, the artist Dave Matthews at 2:37 is the best of the bunch, he's South African but has lived in America most of his life and is one of the best musicians on earth, look him up, Dave Matthews Band. help required : what word do they repeat at the end of the scene?
@QFIhawkman2 жыл бұрын
It's "bokke", the Afrikaans shorthand for "Springboks" which is the nickname of the team. So Pienaar is getting the kids to chant for the "Bokke", in other words to get behind the national team. I can only guess the reply from the kids is the equivalent of "yeah" or "go" or similar?
@QFIhawkman2 жыл бұрын
