The episode title is a line from the comics. There is actually a joke about Neil Armstrong in the comics where one of the astronauts talks about how he will never be remembered because he was the third astronaut on Mars and how nobody remembers the third man who walked on the moon. One of his teammates tries to cheer him up by saying the name of the third astronaut, but can’t remember it, proving the guy’s point.

The comic series lasted for 144 issues over 15 years. It definitely won’t be finished in one season and the comics loved to drop things that sometimes wouldn’t show up for a long time. By the end of the series, 95% of stuff was answered 😊

Regarding the mummy, it was supposed to be a foreshadowing of how Mark will "defeat" the Martian army at the climax. Take note that after the mummy/sandstorm scene, Mark and Nolan were training together in a dessert. They were responsible for the sandstorm during the mummy scene. Also, for comedic purposes, they unwittingly stopped the mummy from breaking out of its tomb.

In the comics there's a couple jokes about aliens speaking English. When he meets Allen in the comics he asks him "you speak English?" to which Allen responds "of course". The martian language interaction is basically the same. Making fun of how in comics aliens and humans just inexplicably understand each other. You see that in the MCU too, they never really give us a universal translator explanation or anything lol.

So up until this point I wondered if Nolan's story about the nature of Viltrum was accurate, and whether elsewhere in the universe races were like 'oh man, those guys are fascist aholes.' But the emperor of Mars didn't seem particularly concerned, so if Viltrum is up to something, it's not generally known. The other theory I have is that Nolan is personally awful, and is using the missionary work of Viltrum to his own ends. Maybe his parents were executed, or they died in some way that's turned him from helping to conquering or something. Hrm.

I really don't see what people see in Amber, she's uppity, she's arrogant, and she doesn't seem like a fun person to be around at all. On top of that, she seems to always blame everything on Mark, sure he ends up being late for a lot of things, even misses a lot of important things, and those are his fault, but also she doesn't ever structure anything that allows for him to be late due to other responsibilities, and she isn't understanding of the fact that he has other responsibilities to his family. You can argue that he shouldn't have lied about his role as a superhero, and I agree, but also he was in a highschool relationship for 5 months, demanding to know everything private about your boyfriend/girlfriend in what's potentially not even a serious relationship is unreal.
