Then he survived, and I was like, oh cool! Then when they started showing backstory for the Guardians and making me like them, I didn't even blink until the the Cronching started. @@Funnyj33ns People saying the exact thing the show/comic was trying to be subtle about takes away from the fun of the mystery of why he did it and his motivation truly is, even if that mystery was revealed to comic readers a decade ago not every one reads these books especially regular consumers of superhero content that mainly watch the shows and movies and don’t pay attention to the books. Plus not every show that isn’t part of the run of the mill dc/marvel universe is like the boys and while this is similar to the boys, it definitely seems it is going to be very different than the boys since the boys is looking at the superhero genre through a lens of cynical realism, invincible looks like it is looking at it with a more realistic lens contrary to it’s animated presentation.

I am so glad we got an extended version of the Omni-Man vs Guardians fight, in the comics it was just a few panels and yes, mostly off-screen, this right here was insane, the whole secuence is so, so good!!

In the comics he finishes them off quick and dips so nobody would suspect him but in the animated version he intentionally holds back and gets beaten up so he wouldn't become a suspect when they do investigating.

I love how you can really see the mixed emotions and worry growing on Adam's face at 14:37 and on, long before "the" scene begins he half-way realizes they're definitely dropping the whole plot twist now instead of later, and he's trying to resist the show's attempts to get you attached to these new characters before the slaughter. But like him, we can't fully resist because they all seem to be likeable, competent heroes who are unwittingly leaving their lives behind for the last time. Of course, when the actual violence begins the smile on his face is the same one I had, I think everybody who read the comics long before the animation came along were excited for the moment, the moment when all the new fans would realize just how gory this show's most violent moments will be. And it's not that the violence is great and fans revel in it, but it's more about the bond the new and old fans of the story now share being formed. Now *you* get to witness the horrors that *we* did! For the characters that survive to the end of this story, the crucible they get put through is brutal and exhaustive. "Welcome to the club!" *That's* the kind of smile you see on Adam's face when Red Rush's head goes pop.

I'm pretty glad this episode ended in a huge twist. I only knew of this show by the THINK MARK meme, and then I also saw one clip of Mark saying, "That's sexist, but ok", so I kinda went into this show expecting something closer to the Harley Quinn animated show. Boy was I surprised. Tbh, I wasn't totally sold the first time I saw episode one. It felt like a generic super hero show that's maybe a bit more volgure than what you'd expect, but then that ending happened. If it didn't have that after credit scene, who knows if I would've kept watching. Now I absolutely love this show, and really want to get into the comics. I'm SO glad it's getting more seasons!

I think putting the end-scene in the first episode was a very good decision. Without it many people watching the show without having read the comics would probably go "Meh ... just another generic superhero show" and stop watching. But with that scene, you are instantly hooked!

The few things I absolutely love about the direction going on during the twist ending, was 1. In the comic (from what I've seen so far) the whole betrayal took place like an assassin taking them out almost immediately, they didn't stand a chance. So seeing this all play out in excruciating detail was tonally perfect. And 2. Did you notice how when Omni-Man arrives and everyone starts taking the fight to him the music is still playing? But after the first kill, the music is completely dead, and stays that way. It was perfect to show it all playing out, you HAVE to establish what's at stake. It was like watching Glenn being executed by Negan all over again. I'm sold!
