Invincible Season 2 is Ruining its Characters

I love invincible season 1. It was a great addition to the ever growing superhero genre. Season 2 is one of the worst follow-ups I've seen in a while. The characters that were once great and had plenty of potential are now simply illogical, & insanely inconsistent.

Apparently a montage conveying time is passing and then being seen with a beard and looking ragged next to a black hole and not advancing in age at all for the whole scene from start to finish is a black hole rapidly aging you. And also a rookie hero should be able to put aside fear and confusion and heartbreak and start competently fighting their father (an elite viltrumite and one of the strongest in the series) just because they could fight competently later after getting way more experience and in a less psychologically disorienting situation. Also apparently the character's named "Omnimain"

1. It was a good spin on the internal suspension of disbelief around comics. It was clearly a attempt to manipulate him and he fought on a abandoned wood. 2. this is the sort of person mark is. even when he was half beaten to death he said he would still love his father 500 years from then. it didn't change the fact he was hostile and emotional. he was slinging like a pendulum. 3. because Omniman is a person, he went native and was clearly struggling with,or do you believed when he called his wife a pet too?

I think part of it is that Mark did grow stronger within the 6 monts (I think) between seasons 1 and 2, so when he was getting rocked by Omni-Man in season 1, that was truly as hard as he could have fought. But through season 2, he's fearing becoming more like his father, which includes becoming a lot more powerful, powerful enough to kill another viltrumite

I do not want to spoil but the bloodline of Mark and Nolan makes them stronger, Thula is also a much older Viltrumite than Nolan, and rage is another thing that makes Viltrumites stronger. Also NOLAN DID KILL THE GUY WHO USED THE DAMN GUN! Also maybe you should read the damn comic that said Nolan wanted to kidnap Mark and raise him as a Viltrumite FOR YEARS but every time he saw Debbie he couldn't do it he was becoming human through his years on earth and didn't want Mark to to get his powers. To each their own, but everything you addressedneother has perfectly logical explainations that are, in fact, consistent with the characters and their stories thus far (they just don't always feel the need to explicitly spell it all out, nor should they), and some of your criticisms amount to complaining because they didn't do it the way you would. Sorry you're not enjoying yourself anymore, but I just think you're factually wrong about a lot of different things here. But like I said, to each their own, I guess. You didn't say this, but the one criticism I would make about season 2 so far is that the story isn't nearly as focused as that of season 1 was, but then again, it's deliberately not trying to do tbat. It's setting up pieces and fleshing out characters. If it makes you feel better, a lot of this set up is laying the groundwork fir a ton of really entertaining plot developments. This far into the main plot, you still have little to no idea where this story is heading. Stick around or don't, it's no skin off my nose, but if you do, I think you'll probably be intrigued.

Dude I 100% agree. Once I watched season 2 and heard they're not gonna change much about the story I knew it was just a flop. The comic is just awful they have the perfect setup but the worst way to make a good story. But the biggest thing I hated about season 2 was how Omni-Man in literal MONTHS, all of sudden changed his ways, went full circle yet, helps people on another planet but couldn't come back to earth to apologize? And now hes justified to be a good guy. Trash. 9 months is like 9 minutes to him. There's no way after 1000 years of a being a dedicated viltrumite he changed that fast. I really wished they changed the story there are many universes in this comic, correct? So why does it have to follow the original comic why can't it be another one? Marvel does this DC does this. There isn't a comic already on them they add their own touch to the stories but with the same characters.

But it hasn’t really just been a few months. Nolan’s entire arc is centered around how he feels split between his Viltrumite duties and his family and the human values of empathy. Season one shows that many times, and it’s reinforced in Season Two episode 4. Granted that’s only about twenty years give or take, which isn’t long for his lifespan, but the point is that he DID change, it’s just now he’s truly understanding that he did it. Which is too little too late for Earth; he killed thousands of people, not amount of “I’m sorry” is ever going to change that. No matter how much Nolan might repair his relationship with Mark or even Debbie, they will still live their lives with the trauma of what he did. Whether or not you like that, that’s up to you. And also, yes technically there are many universes within the comic, but there’s only ever been one Invincible comic series which the show is based on. It isn’t like Marvel or DC at it, and it should never aim to be IMO

i agree with this. Season 2 is kind of lazy in writing. Also Mark had worse character development followed by Eve. Poor writing and art is also not good as season 1.
