Warrior Nick Morrison's Humvee was hit by improvised explosive devices on two separate occasions while he was deployed to Iraq with the U.S. Marine Corps. But it was the one that blew up a vehicle he wasn't in that he blames for the severity of his post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and survivor's guilt.
In this original documentary, Nick details out why he enlisted, his experiences overseas, and the challenges he and those close to him faced when he returned home. From one veteran's own experience, you'll have a detailed look at the impacts of invisible wounds of war.

May God Bless all of you who served and sacrificed mind and body in War. I’m not a Veteran, however, I do suffer from PTSD, Anxiety and Treatment Resistant Depression. I waited 45 years to talk about my very first Trauma of being sexually abused by a trusted family member. The cost? Countless lost jobs, friendships, relationships and a marriage. Everything said in this video is true. If you don’t discuss your Traumas and emotions and get them out and process them, the Devil owns you and it’s a miserable existence. Like you, I found help, but not till God saved me from taking my own life. The Devil almost had me, but I was saved and now after 11 years of ongoing treatment, I’m feeling much better and more functional in society. Our stories are different but our treatments are the same. I only wish the Mental Health community got the same attention that Veterans get. I would’ve benefited from a program like this and so would millions more suffering Americans with a Mental Health Disorder. May all of you seek and find the help you need. ❤

The hardest thing I did was asking for help. It took me along time because I needed someone outside my circle that would/could listen. The shame I felt prevented me to involve family and friends, so I needed an outsider. I needed to find a new friend for just those moments when I needed to talk, and not fear being judged. I dont regret asking for help and it changed everything.

Suck it up buttercup. Why not tell these men they fought killed and got injured over lies.... What about hundreds of thousands of innocent women and children in Afghanistan and Iraq? Is there a charity for them? Depleted uranium is still causing birth defects in Iraq

1988 Angolan war artillery veteran. Never had to face Brothers or Sisters shot to pieces but lost some brothers due to mines, accidents etc and buried many mates prior to 88, , experienced the stress of attacking and being attacked daily with very very close calls. I thank God that i am reasonably OK and able to cope but feeling yours and the pain of so many 1000s of Brothers and Sisters relating to post war. You my brother, hit home several times during this video that had me in tears but silently, not wanting to have the family ask whats wrong. Thank you so much for doing the right thing which allowed you to be here and to share what you had to go through. God Bless you Brothers and Sisters who are struggling.

I’m going to watch this again with my wife and children…. When you mentioned biting on the towel to mask the sound of your cries and sometimes for me it was just needing to scream out it hit home for me. I served two combat tours in Iraq. 2005-2006 and 2008-2009 and my life has been completely different since. I appreciate your story and this will help many of us move forward with our lives.

Have you ever talked to anyone who has been where you are? I tried to do it myself and failed terribly. There are people who you can get it off you're chest and then you're mind. Good luck and do the right thing. I'm sure you're family loves you so think about them. It's hard but I bet you will be so much better and you can have peace.

@@richardboutwell3029 No, I never came across a person with the same problems, I tried the internet but didn't really work. Did you get it of your chest? I must admit I hardly believe that it is possible for me, first because of the physical evidence and second because it is my internal believe that no one cares anyway.

@@susimuller6317 I care. You are not alone and I’m sure there are people who will understand. There are people who feels like you and especially anyone who has suffered. PTSD has no physical preference or does it matter what you’re status is no one is above it. In my case my mind couldn’t understand what the consequences were. It’s a relatively a new thing and if you can’t see the damage it’s done to you it’s really hard to figure it out yourself. In my experience I would have rather lost a body part cause at least everyone would have known I wasn’t doing very good. I had a secret stirring in my brain and didn’t have it in me to give it up. It took me to hit rock bottom and I ended up homeless with nobody to help me ( self inflicted) figure it out. And believe or not I still fought telling anyone what was going through my mind. I went to rehab (also self inflicted) for 7 months and I had a counselor who had my number and he was tough on me. For the first time in 24 years I had no control or choice about it. I had to come clean. I told my story for the first time to 115 drug addicts and the people with serious alcohol addiction in a church. I was shaking so bad I had to hang on to the podium or I would have fell down. It took me about an hour to get it out there and by the time I got done there wasn’t a dry eye in the church. It was like someone took that big gorilla off my back and I could actually breathe again. But I still have to make amends to the Marines and try to explain what happened to me. I get that chance October 23rd it’s the 40th anniversary of the BLT headquarters bombing in Beruit Lebanon which killed 241 Marines and servicemen who were sleeping in a huge 4 story building. It completely destroyed the building and the guys had little chance of surviving. It was a nightmare for anyone who was there. The reason I’m telling you this is the circumstances might be a little different but I get it and if you get serious about making you’re life better reach out to the wounded warriors and I’m sure they’ll get you in the right place to get help. I’ve heard they are really good and it doesn’t matter if you served or not you are still important and worth saving. You can’t see that yet but I promise you will be able to get better. But remember you have to be honest and truthful or you’re wasting their time and yours. No one can do it for you, you have to do it yourself. Good luck to you and if you decide to take advice I can promise you will change your life around. The saying is you’re not alone and it’s the truth. If you do seek help I would like to know how you came out. Thanks for sharing now finish it………

The underlying issue is more physical than mental, involving hyper-coagulation and sub-clinical stroke damage The condition is far easier to treat than most would suspect but medical authorities prefer to destroy their patients this per their Nazi roots out of WWII. I suffer from the same pathology and yet once psychiatric drugs are introduced, the harm becomes far worse and far more difficult to treat.

I don’t know cause I never seen anyone about it. I was a lance corporal in the Marines in 1983, 84. It was a different world back then and there wasn’t PTSD back then and I would have been persecuted if I would have told anyone that I didn’t feel good. I was with the unit that invaded Grenada then we were the ones who pulled out of Beirut Lebanon. It turned out we were over our heads and being so young and something happened to me that I couldn’t explain. I didn’t have it in me to ask for help. The worst mistake I made. I’ve lived with it for 40 years and this year I have a chance to put a lot of it away. I never got the chance to talk to anyone who was there and it haunted me for years. I finally told my story 24 years after it happened and it was a relief but I think it will be over when I get that chance. My biggest advice for anyone who isn’t feeling good is to have the guts to let someone help you figure it out. There are people who have felt the same and I know they care. Don’t try to figure it out yourself cause you will probably head down a terrible place like I did

Thank you for you're reply. My case is a little bit different than others. I made a big mistake by not coming clean with the Marines. I choose to try to do it myself and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I think I would be a good person to talk to if someone is struggling with life. I've lived with this for 40 years and now I ask myself would it have been different if I could have told someone I just didn't feel good. If anyone wants to try it with some help I would surely be interested. If there is anyone who understands it would be me.
