only seen the first 2 minutes, but I´d like to say if we stay in 2 NT, we can expect to make them; trouble is we won´t improve by only safe bids. Surely the more adventurous option is to ´go for it` and chase the 3 NT. Then we really start to make progress with our game........

The Bath Coup is a neat one! It does come up often enough that it’s worthwhile remembering. Once you really understand it well you’ll find similar suit combinations that work the same. Keep up the good work!

I could not figure out what to do with this hand at Sky Bridge Club, and ended up with 7 tricks. I finally went for the heart finesse, fearing disaster from diamonds. It was anything but disaster, as Graeme shows in the video. There is a line in the movie “Searching for Bobby Fischer” about the young prodigy, “Your son creates like Fischer.” I’ve wondered if there’s something like that in bridge. This diamond play, finessing !D9, might be an example of that.

Worthwhile examining that diamond suit again. Note that we’ve got seven and they’ve got six. That length is an asset for us, it’s nothing to fear. Sure we’re missing the ace and king, but when we dig deeper we find the gold. Searching for Bobby Fischer was a great movie, wasn’t it? I loved the scene where the coach threw the pieces on the floor. Solve the problem in your head, not on the board. It’s exactly the same thing in bridge. A powerful lesson.

Why did you play th queen when you had won with the Jack?

6:19 There were no diamonds left at that stage so it didn’t really make any difference. By winning with the Queen I was in the North hand so I could take that last diamond. I could have let the Jack win and cross to dummy in another suit. Either way would have worked.

Does that mean north has 11 points meaning if he had 12 he would bid 3NT

Well, in this case North is 8-9 because I’ve shown 15-17. But the general idea is that North might choose to pass with 8 and just up and bid game with 9. It’s not a rule or anything, just an approach to consider on some hands.
