I am sorry but that wasn't the right dress to arrive in.If it was ,then she should have changed for the garden party.The husband was dressed wrong aswell.He was dressed in dinner or supper clothing. He should have had a derby ,with a bow tie.and suit.

I grew up in Coventry in Rhode Island, Unfortunately, I never toured these magnificent homes, I live in west Michigan now but I hope to visit home soon and see them, they really are a living connection to the rich and storied history of Newport. Thanks for doing this video, I always wondered what it must have been like for the families to live there, it looks like it was quite the place to be. Reminds me a little of Downton Abby. Well done

This looks like it was great fun to do! I've visited Beechwood and it was great. I love the link to the Titanic with John Jacob Astor and Madeline. I believe they were married here and she retreated here after the sinking for a bit. Eileen I love how your outfit is victorian, yet with a few right accessories, it could be totally 1980s!

Cliff, thank you for watching and commenting. I too am fascinated by the Titanic connection. When Madeleine returned to Beechwood, she turned the entire third floor into her closet. Hard to fathom their wealth. Hope you will check out my other posts on my Channel. Blessings to you...

lol nooooo This was probably filmed in the very late 1980s/early 1990's. This is an example of what films (Edison's Kinetoscope) looked like in 1891: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5eWeqekmct4rdE

Kind of a shame this rich billionaire is going to take away a piece of living history just to show off his fortune. He could have built another building to house and show off that AND kept this house to restore it to its former glory for everyone to appreciate.

I can only say that this must have been the worst way to live. I can't even imagine myself living in this time....unless I was middle class or less. Ugh.
@googleuser74543 жыл бұрын
Even with the wealth, it must have been stressful with all the gossip, potential,, backstabbing, constant need for networking and alliances, rules, formality etc. Middle class was probably better in many regards
