Inwood Hill Park, Manhattan

I will travel to a historic Inwood Hill Park in Manhattan, pointing out few interesting things along the way like the Indian Caves, Shorakkopoch Rock or the Dyckman Farmhouse....I hope you enjoy!!!

Thank you for doing this. A place I never knew existed. I wonder when it became a park and if this was a WPA project?

I was looking for images in the New York Public Library for Fort Tryon (which is near by and one of my next videos) and came across information that Inwood Hill Park officially opened in 1926 although the city was buying land for it for few years prior - going back to 1915. And WPA played a big role in shaping the park to what it is - many buildings like the Straus Mansion I mentioned were abandoned by 1930s and the WPA cleared them as they were building roads around the park and the Henry Hudson Bridge. 😊
