@JohnHF195710 ай бұрын
Inna, this is one of your best reactions. The honest delight you displayed as each element unfolded was a joy to watch. Then, your spin in the chair ,was as unexpected as the sax solo is for so many who hear this song for the first time. INXS have many, many great songs, so please do some more (I suggest "Suicide Blonde, "Original Sin", "Kiss The Dirt (Falling Down The Mountain"), "I Send A Message" and "Burn For You"). The AFL team that I follow here in Australia, Port Adelaide Power, have adopted this as a pre game song at home games. To hear over 40,000 fans belt out "They will never, ever tear us apart." is awesome (there are clips of this here on KZbin). A few years ago, two of the band members were invited to a game. They were on the playing surface as the crowd sang their song and they were visibly moved.

INXS ("in excess") was an Australian band that broke big in the 80's and was one of several bands from Australia that found commercial success in the 80's next to AC/DC, Men at Work, Little River Band, Ice House, Midnight Oil, Crowded House, etc. What made INXS special was their lead singer Michael Hutchence... an extraordinary talent and a charismatic frontman... He helped score their biggest pop hits like - 'Need you tonight'... 'New sensation' ... 'What you need' ... 'Beautiful girl' ... 🔥🔥 In the 90's, INXS was trending down in the alternative rock era and record sales dropped by the mid-90's... still, INXS persisted and had some success w/ their 1997 album 'Elegantly wasted'... Sadly, it was their last record w/ Michael Hutchence on vocals. As the frontman and rock star of INXS, Michael Hutchence was irreplaceable... he had a voice, presence and charisma that appealed to women and could not be duplicated on record or in concert... Personally, he struggled w/ issues and self-doubt... His last years were marred by a scandalous affair he had w/ the wife of Bob Geldof - the star who organized Live Aid concert in 1985... Hutchence became a father to his only daughter in the 90's w/ girlfriend Paula Yates as she went through a messy divorce w/ Geldof regarding their children... In late 1997, Michael Hutchence took his own life, allegedly after he discovered that he would not be allowed to spend the Christmas holidays w/ Paula and their daughter because of her court case in England. Paula Yates attempted suicide after Hutchence's death and eventually died in 2000 from an OD... Hutchence's daughter Tiger Lily was adopted by Geldof.

Even their dep cuts on their older albums can be very good. Definitely take some deep dives into this band in addition to what people will want you to react to.. As far as what to react to next, I would do the combination of the videos for Need You Tonight and Mediate. They were often played together on MTV and often on the radio too. I remember the first time I saw them together on MTV was an impactful experience like how you just reacted to Never Tear Us Apart. In fact, I'm going to go watch them again now.
