This song was played at my mums funeral. For some reason I burst into tears when it came on. This song shifted the perspective from my own pain and gave me an empathy for my father, who had lost his soul mate of over 40 years. I felt like, in that moment, I was mourning not just the death of my mother but the death of such a beautiful relationship. This song never fails to do this for me every time I hear it. EDIT: Thankyou for the comments. I love you all.

My mum walked down the aisle to “Never Tear Us Apart” in 1992 when her and my father got married. There was not one dry eye in that church. I’m getting married July 2020, I’m surprising them both by having “Never Tear Us Apart” as the song I have playing As I walk down the aisle. As far as they are aware I’m having a totally different song and genre. I cannot wait to see their faces. I am the product of an INXS fan girl from the early 80’s and my father (who at the time was a spitting image of Michael hutchence) 😂 I came out of the womb knowing and loving INXS, they have always been a huge part of my life. Cannot wait to have the honour of marrying the love of my life, and my all time favourite band being front and centre of the entire event.

It's natural we lament the absence of a person from such a strong treasured memory, but later we recognise how grateful we can be that we got to even live through a memory like that. True sadness comes from thinking of those truly lonely souls who never even experienced or felt anything like that sort of moment at any time in their lives. Maybe even they can find solace one day with a fellow soulmate from the 80s, seeing as many of us seem to be online in the same places on KZbin at 3am.

I remember seeing INXS live in concert and the air was electric with this song it was a balmy summer evening cool breeze I was just turned 18 had been swimming all day at the beach standing in the crowd white shorts singlet top tanned long hair still damp and absolutely mesmerized by Michael the audience completely quiet. It was one of the best concerts I ever went to and certainly the most memorable. :)

Most of it was, the graveyard section(2:39) i read was filmed near or in Munich has the intended spot Prague old cemitery was legaly blocked.

@@instinctprimal1382 What i told was mentioned in a VH 1 making off documentary that althought the band intent was to film the whole clip in Prague, the "Prague Jewish council"(or what was the name of the organization) went to court to block that and won so that section(between 2:33 and 3:07) was filmed in Munich.

@@arturs2436 If it was, Munich must have a real dead ringer for that particular wall. 😃 cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soubor:Praha_Siroka_5-7_4.JPG (You see... if you're Czech... and go round there often enough for example because the Museum of Decorative Arts is right next to it... you just _know_ the place. You _know_ it's there, not because you see an atmospheric old Jewish cemetery, but because you know the wall.) I can imagine some degree of misremembering playing a role in said documentary. Maybe they were not allowed to take all their filming equipment and crew into the cemetery (that would make perfect sense, that might play havoc on tightly packed historic graves), and that led to that honestly pretty iconic spanning shot from the street... Maybe there are other shots in the video of less recognisable places, random rundown streets, that were shot somewhere else?
@beth12svist4 ай бұрын
@@arturs2436 The problem with that explanation is, I _know the wall from Prague._ If that's in Munich, Munich has a pretty striking deadringer of a fairly random piece of urban infrastructure in the exact same sort of place. 🙂 (I tried linking to a photo on Commons, but KZbin hates links and ate the comment, so I can't share visual proof. But if you dig through photos of the place online, hopefully sooner or later you'll see it. Some degree of misremembering the past must have been involved in the making of said documentary.)

Was a highlight of a recent visit to Prague to go and walk round the island in the middle of the river that much of this video is shot from. It's instantly recognisable once you walk down to the island from the bridge; nothing in the background scenery has changed in 30 years.

I'm visiting Prague, seeing all the spots that were shot in this video(Prague's castle, Carl's bridge, watching the honorary guard changing, visiting Jewish cemetary...) and I kinda feel like I'm in a video. The city is sure more commercialized today then 30 years ago, but it still has something that makes you fall in love with the city. And yes,like in a video you can see many pairs kissing and hugging in front of historical sigts. I'm surely going to visit this beautiful city snd just maybe next time I would be the one who would be huged and kissed. And to all of you who admire the scenes from the video,Inxs and Michael as an unforgetable group/ frontman I highly recommend visiting Prague. Inxs and Hutch forever!💔👍
