Ion 1950's Futuristic Flying Wing - Pt11: Covering in Laminating Film - By O.F.W. (Peter) Fisher

The Ion Mk 20 is a great looking flying wing from 1957, designed by O.F.W. Fisher and English designer and owner of Performance Kits. He was often known as Peter Fisher. The Ion has a 33" wingspan and was originally a free flight model powered by a Frog 80 diesel engine, however in this build it will be converted to 2 channel RC. The original design had elevons, used to give some reflex to the wing and they could be used to adjust the trim. In this build series these elevons will be servor controlled.

My guess is, you will do the first wing again. I cant imangine you will be able to overlook the wrinkles near the leading edge, especially when they become even more visible after applying the tissue 😉

Hi Mark i have been watching you cover things with this doculam ,looks really good ,but you can't get it here in New Zealand and i have asked around but they tell me that the laminating film here will not go around corners and does not shrink. Please can you tell me what type and where can i buy some please. the normal iron film is around $60.00 N Z dollars for two meters, so l would sure like some of the film you are using. thanks john
