I can answer that for you. So when the series began in 1992, the majority of the cast was actually Canadian; Iona is American. Canadian actors don’t get residuals whereas American actors do. To save on costs, they replaced Iona with a Canadian actress (Alison Sealy-Smith), from 1993 on. They also had Alison re-record all of Iona’s lines from the first two seasons, so they would no longer have to pay her when they re-aired episodes.

@@C.Francisque27 so instead of rightfully paying her, they hired 2 new ppl to re-record her voice. They also did it sloppily that Iona's voice remained in some scenes. I would sue the hell outta them!

@@umamizaddy no, they only hired one new person. Alison was the voice actress for Storm after they replaced Iona, and is currently for X-Men ‘97. Sadly, that is the nature of the business. Major companies like Marvel don’t care about the individual, and instead are looking at the most cost-effective solutions. However, I agree with you that Iona should sue for back-pay and residuals, as her voice remains on Disney+ for the first season of X-Men. Even before streaming services, Alison’s voice was only on episode 3 (Enter Magneto) and from episode 6 (Cold Vengeance) onward. Episodes 1,2,4 and 5 remained Iona and seemed to never have a version using Alison’s voice. 🤔🤷🏽‍♂️
