IONIQ 5 public charging test. Found a cool door feature and a que to charge.

Tried out a Osprey. InstaVolt and ionity chargers.
Full details of price……
Osprey 50kw charger…
Max seen was 49kw went from 29% to 39% in 10 mins
66p KW/H at a cost of £6 adding 22 miles.
Instavolt 120kw charger…….
92kw for the most time touch 120 for a second. 40% to 50% added 23 miles and cost £5.12 ??????
Ionity 350 kw charger.
125 kw speed going from 50% to 83% added 34 miles just waiting for receipt for the cost. But ionity is 25p kw/h through Charge MyHyundai.

The „low“ charging Level at Ionity got nothing to do with the place beeing busy. Its just normal, that the charging rate gets lower the higher the SoC is. So if you really wanted to compare the charging speeds you‘d need to start with the same SoC at every station (and not 29%, 40% and 50%). The best is starting to charge at 10% SoC and then you‘ll also see >200kW (if it is not too cold)

It's part of the software it drops the power off the edge of a cliff to check the battery temp etc to see what speed it can take at the top end of the battery all ioniq5's do it apparently.

Charging speed drop came with Kona fires. Now the BMS checks cell conditions and if everything is OK, then it keeps going. It now seems to be same with other models.

I used that Ionity a couple of months ago and reached over 200kW. I'm sure the same charger was broken then. 25p/kWhr through charge-my-hyundai so well worth joining if you can. We left the car and grabbed a quick bite to eat, the Ioniq 5 charged so quick I had to move it before we finished eating.

Yeah both cheap and quick. I spent more on cake than on a charge 🤣🤣🤣

I get the same thing at 80% Matt. Charging speed drops down to next to nothing for 2 minutes, then ramps back up again.

Does it come with type 2 charging cable when buy the car? My car will arrive next month. Which charger would you recommend for home charging?

Hi. Yeah it comes with a cable that you would use on a public charger that just has the box. So a slow charger. Depends where you are but I have an ohme charger which works well with octopus.

@@lukewang227 for home yes. But in reality it’s much easier to have a tethered. Just get out the car and plug in.
