Great video! I'm getting a new CEM60 (just got the shipping notice!) and need to get a USB to rs232 cable. Can you post a link to the one you bought? The picture in the iOptron firmware instructions shows two slightly different rs232 connectors; both are male, but one has screws, one has nuts. Which is the proper one to fit the ioptron cable? Thanks.

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QUZY4L0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the one I got on Amazon. $11.99 This one has a flat cable. I think I would probably go with a round one next time. The flat cable makes it stick out a little bit and is not as easily bundled up if you need to make it shorter. The most important thing is the FDTI chipset!!! I'll check tomorrow to see if the screws or nuts are needed.

Update: The RS232‐RJ9 serial cable supplied by iOptron has the screws, so try to get the USB to RS232 adapter that has nuts for a secure connection.

I saw this too late and bought the one you linked. It'll still work though. Thanks.

@@_Astrovert Great vid mate. You mentioned in your unboxing vid a number of cords that are needed that weren't included by Ioptron. Can you tell me what all of them were so I can ensure they are with me when my mount arrives. Thank you.

@@STOMP1E You will need an RS232 to USB converter if you want to control your mount with a computer (unless it has a serial port). You will also need a power cord with a 2.5mm x 5.5mm plug to send power through the mount to the upper saddle. The power cords that come with it are 2.1mm. Hope this helps.

Another great video. I will be getting the CEM25P soon, so I assume some of this will apply to that

I think the CEM25 uses iOptron commander too so I would assume the process is similar. Biggest GOTCHA is to get the USB->RS232 in the right port. Don't plug it into the handbox port!!! It's an easy mistake to make. Go slow, follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Great video Jeff. Can you tell if you turned your mount off while downloading the upgrade? Thank you.

The *.bin files can be downloaded at any time. If you are asking if the mount must be turned on during the upgrade, then yes, it does. The power to the HC comes from the mount only, if you are updating the HC. If you're only updating the mount, RA, DEC then you don't need the HC plugged in. Hope this helps.
