My bet on Ferret-UI is that it's gonna be used for accessibilty and/or UI automation.

VoiceOver already has Screen Recognition, so it can look at the app onscreen and assign roles to UI elements based on what it thinks they are. For example, a button in a game would be treated as a button by VoiceOver. Not really sure how FerretUI would be much different in terms of the backend.

@@techwithtyler20 Does VoiceOver depend on the developers to implement accessibility features? I mean, UIKit and SwiftUI already do accessibility by default for builtin components, but frameworks like Flutter fail to do so.

@@x1nto Screen Recognition helps in those cases where the developer hasn’t optimized for VoiceOver support or isn’t using system UI elements/UI elements built from system ones. For any custom UI elements, it’s up to the developer to implement proper accessibility support, but Screen Recognition is a solution for when an app’s UI elements aren’t accessibility-supported.

I think a lot of the 17.4.1 battery drain was caused by KZbin app which had an update right after 17.4.1. It’s been draining around 30% battery each hour and still not fixed in their recent patch. The only way to fix it is to uninstall KZbin and reinstall fresh.

iPadOS 17.5 beta 1 on my iPad 8 has really improved my battery life I haven’t seen this good battery on my iPad since iPadOS 14! and my iPhone 15 chugs on iOS 17.5 beta 1 also I have watchOS 10.5 beta on my Apple Watch Ultra 2

because if the device is unregistered, the store can actually track the location of the stolen items. so if u were to unplug a phone that’s connected to a charger/ alarm system without it going off, the store manager would track the location

All the AI ferret features pretty much confirm a reworked Siri. I’ll finally be able to ask context based questions 😩. The only thing that I would still like to see is a Siri that can work across all my devices because it really falls short on the HomePods. Btw I’m loving the Discord 🔥🔥

Good that Apple is working on its own AI. When I heard that Apple wanted to implement Google AI in addition to the fact that Google has been Apple's preferred search engine for many years, I thought that now I see Apple's Kodak moment within a few years. Apple has many good products, but the iPhone and iOS haven't innovated much in the last five years. It has only been a cosmetic touch up.

Apple will def use Google or OpenAI or some other 3rd party for their generative AI that takes place in the cloud. Apple's AI will be specific to on-device tasks, which is still a big leap forward

I question your AirTag story.. The AirTags come with a plastic strip that blocks the battery circuit until removed... Also, they were not assigned to an Apple ID yet... How do authorities track the devices??

Right... When you're grasping at straws for a "AirTag Story" you overlook basic details... Like, did the police work hand-in-glove with Apple to determine which serial numbered AirTags went missing from the store, and then file a warrant for Apple to provide location data to AirTags (Apple's cheapest product) for some cops to sleuth and find the thieves... on AirTags with inactive batteries and unassigned Apple ID's... And if the police knew the Apple IDs of the thieves, why not just find them that way...

I'm curious to see what they will do with AI. I just moved over to Edge browser on my iPhone 15 pro max and 14 inc M3 pro MacBook pro. I'm all in Co pilot pro. I use it everyday in my work flow. I'm willing to pay for a great experience from apple and go back to Safari. But, apple is going to have to show out. Also Nintendo just shut down a emulator. Publishers are not going to let that fly

I don’t understand the problem with roms on iOS emulators ? The copyright protection means that first, you obviously can’t put copyrighted roms into your app And the emulator code must be original, you can’t put the source code or the bios of protected consoles But there is no legal interdiction to run certains roms on it, In theory you can play Zelda or Pokémon as long as these are yours (but no one can know if it’s from your own dump or from internet so enjoy 👀)

they really destroyed airtags, my use case was to put one e.g. in my bike to find it if it's stolen, now the thief will get a notification lol. And if I have them in my wallet, it's the same, only that when I move with friends they would get this notification too ig ... really weird

I wanted to get a M3 MacBook Pro since I still have an intel MacBook Air. But I saw reviews on KZbin that since the M1 MacBook pros have more performance cores instead of the M3 efficiency cores, than using Logic X pro is actually better in the M1 variants. I hope the M4 has more performance…..
