True, the Xbox 360 did launch in December of 2005 but the original launch systems didn't come with an HDMI port. That came in later revisions of the system.

They should be able to sell at a generous price of $300 right now if they sold. That makes it about $234.99 dollar loss. They then put that towards a new PS5 pro lets say it is priced at $599.99 that'll be $641.98 after tax. So if you go ahead and make that $341.98 because you sold your old ps5 at $300. You don't really end up paying any less on a PS5 pro you are just paying more money overall on a ps5 console. It is overall a net loss because you lose $234.99 on the original investment then pay out of Pocket $341.98. Which again doesn't save you any money really in the long run. You woulda been better waiting til the pro releases to buy a ps5 than to buy an original or slim at that point. Because it will just cost you more if you buy then sell then buy the new one a few years later.

Metroid Prime 4 is not going to release this year. Maybe in 2017, they planned to have it come out for the Switch, but it's pretty obvious that they're going to save it for the next system. Maybe they'll do a Breath of the Wild style release with a version on Switch, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if they just skip Switch altogether and go straight to the next system.

The PS4 pro was my first PS4 system. And I barely found any game that played at a proper 60fps that didn't already run at 60 on the base system. Plus the game it would work best on the uncapped monster hunter world. Made it super inconsistent. It would jump from 40 fps to 60 for a few seconds then back to 40/mids 30s

As for emulators, one consideration apart from retro would be if the company can still profit from it, you can still get xbox games and 360 from the store until july of this year, but wii u and 3ds already closed eshop, and ps3/psp/vita games can still be purchased and there still no end date for that.

The current Evercade carts are just a chip that is compatible with SD card pinout. You can find schematics online for creating adaptors that let you use a Gameboy cartridge slot and adapt it to an SD to USB card reader and connect the carts to your PC. That would be a great video!

Square enix seems to have a type of game they WANT to be a big seller, and will ignore their smaller successes because it doesn't fit the idea of what they think should sell. I think the execs look at small projects like tactics ogre and octopath and just think, "why aren't you a bigger flashier title?" I thought the giga cart was going to be a small fpga chip flash cart that you can put inside a set of larger adapters that would allow it to work in any game console. One expensive cartridge and a whole bunch of cheap shells with basic PCBs only. Imagine if you could have a flash cart that would work in every system for about $100-$200 with flashable firmware to work in even more consoles and computers

I’m pretty sure I had a dos emulator on the IPhone close to 10 years ago. I can’t remember what it was called, but it played some text based adventures like Zark. I realize it’s not the same as console emulation, but I’m not surprised Apple doesn’t care about emulating dead systems.

The only good thing about the PS4 Pro was the utilization of the solid state drive which made loading tolerable. I remember playing Destiny 2 at the time (mended my ways since) and when I added the SSD it was a notable improvement. Some developers added in 60fps to their games but not many. As for the 5 Pro, right now it seems its mainly being put out to address the Ray Tracing issues... who the hell is even asking for RT when it is so taxing? I remember Jedi Survivors release and it was a ****show. Some of these developers seem so dead set on implementing it, like do they even read the things people say about it? Doesn't seem like it. The 5 Pro will only appeal to me if games start being 60pfs from then on but Ill only find that out as the years go on so might as well wait for the 6 to come out 🤷🏻.

What's going on with the Switch right now feels exactly like when Nintendo started to phase out the 3DS. Support was reduced to a bare minimum with barely any first or second party games releasing on it. Except by that point in time, the Switch was already out on the market. I assume Nintendo's next console will be ready to go either this year or next, but it's strange that there's virtually no information on it. Normally console manufacturers like to build up hype for their next system _before_ they start winding down their current one.

Releasing Metroid Prime 4 this year makes sense because launching a game with a new console will actually hurt sales of the game (at least in the first year), and with a franchise like Metroid that's not a good risk to take. MP4 being the only big Switch game in fall 2024 gives it maximum reach.

One Piece Odyssey heading too the Switch is good too see. I absolutely love seeing stuff like this, Cheat Codes being discovered many Years later. Nintendo Skipping Gamescom is smart if Nintendo has nothing much too Show. The Apple Store could be the place too go for Emulators. If the PS5 Pro can get 60fps on all Games, then it could be a decent Upgrade other the PS5 as is. This could be really cool for the Evercade having Bigger Carts for other Styles of Games. There is a Classic Tomb Raider Collection heading too Evercade plus two New Systems in the VS-R n EXP-R. Nice Poll, I think Nintendo will have something for the Holidays, whether it's gonna be a Brand New Title I'm not sure but could see a Zelda Collection or Metroid Prime 2&3 Collection maybe coming. I am not getting tricked into buying a pro again. They promised 4k and I was hoping for better frames and in most games that was not the case. Ghost of Tsushima and last of us were 30 and didn’t run in true 4k. The u.i was even slow.

Yay they're bringing one piece Odyssey over to Nintendo switch now if they only can put English dub on all their one piece games that's what annoys me about making any game from the company

Everything around Nintendo right now makes me wonder if Nintendo is flexing that r&d and maybe doing some last minute refinement/improvement to the new hardware since there is so much more competition now than when they first began development.

ya we will have very few 1st party games it seems this year.indie world tomorrow instead of full direct.. june would be a safe bet if nintendo follows tradition for full directs

I know this isn’t going to be a popular option but Ubisoft plus is 17 a month so far all there games launch day one and it’s the gold edition so sign up play it cancel it when you finish the game

I still don't have a PS5. I'm now waiting for the PS5 Pro, just like I did with the PS4 generation. PS largely doesn't have enough on it that's not also on Xbox Series X or Switch. And still, there's probably only 3 or 4 games I'm currently interested in on PS5. Just the use case for me is slim.

Crossplay for Grounded is completely broken on launch day for PS5 and switch. No one can link their Xbox account and it's been a disaster for all the friends who took off work today to play together.

I reiterate, any console that is no longer being built and sold on retail is Retro. Any videogame made for such consoles are retro too. However, in regards to emulation IMO, this applies only to videogames out of print that also can’t be played anymore in the new console, and Virtual Console doesn’t count. Per ex. back in the day, you could still buy new PS1 games and play them in PS 2 consoles when they no longer made PS1 consoles. Those disks can’t be played anymore, nor are they sold, save some special cases, hence, Retro. For now It’d say up to PS3 era counts.

I am here for a PS5 Pro. I (like Jon) enjoy having the strongest thing available. Also, I am a gamer that trades in the previous system for the next system, and moving up to the pro ensures maximum return toward the PS6.
