Thanks for the detailed explanation. I stopped trying to use Optimized Charging but now I think it was because of the extra settings that needed to be on and that it takes 14 days or more to kick-in. Great job.

4:08 this is incorrect information. We have been using Optimized Battery Charging with System Customization AND Significant Locations turned OFF for years, so we can confirm that this is false information. I know other KZbinrs also perpetuate it, and it might even be in Apple's support docs unless they changed it recently. But yeah, you don't need those toggles on for OBC to work. Location Services itself may need to be on, not sure on that because we've never turned that off. But those 2 others, yeah you don't need those on.

Because Apple places any new feature on its latest devices to make it look exclusive to that device and force people to buy the latest one. That's how it was when the iPhone 12 came out that in the camera section you could change the fps and quality of the videos without having to go to the camera settings and it was exclusive to that iPhone then with the release of the 13 and the new IOS arrived That option for older devices, the same will happen with this minimum battery will be available for the iPhone 14 onwards in IOS 18 or 19 and that is something that bothers me about Apple because small things make them look exclusive to the new iPhones now. They only want to sell because since the death of Steve Jobs they stopped innovating

You don’t actually need it. People want this feature because of the misconception that it will slow battery degradation, but that’s not how it works. Charging your phone to 100% does NOT degrade your battery. Charging 100% of the phones battery DOES degrade the battery tho. That means charging your phone from 75 to 100 (only 1 25% charger of the battery) will not degrade your battery, but charging from 75 to 100 4 times will (25% charges 4 times = 100% of the battery charged). The only real way to save battery health is to not use to phone at all. But that’s not reasonable. So use your phone. These battery health settings do not matter at all.

@CellPhonzRockEnterprises
@CellPhonzRockEnterprises Жыл бұрын
You should do 80% limit. Your phone’s battery health will stay higher if you do it this way. Furthermore, lithium ion batteries don’t like to be fully charged all the time. They also don’t like being really low on charge. Keeping the charge between 20-80% will keep the battery health much higher for longer. Be sure not to fast charge it all the time either.
@kevbenz
@kevbenz Жыл бұрын
If you change your phone every 2 years there is no need, if you want to keep it longer and don’t have AppleCare, just use the 80% option once in a while when you know, you keep it on the charger for a longer time. Otherwise if you charge to 100% and take it off, it’s fine. Also the battery optimisation is good and fine enough, my 13pm was at 87% after two years and still held battery good and my sister’s using it now and for her battery life is awesome.

@@CellPhonzRockEnterpriseswhy limit yourself to using 60% of the battery when either way you will lose capacity. If you use your phone without worrying it’s 1. A lot healthier and less stressful 2. You are using your phone with full battery potential. (100% and not 60%) Decide whether you want to sarcrifice yourself for stressing out about some numbers or replace your battery in 2.5 years instead of 3.
@Brian-wp9er
@Brian-wp9er Жыл бұрын
@@CellPhonzRockEnterprises No it won’t. That’s not how it works, your battery doesn’t degrade when charged to 100%, it degrades when 100% of its battery is charged. It doesn’t matter what the battery charge limit is, it will degrade regardless, and the only way to prevent degradation is to not use the phone. But there’s no point in that. So just use it like normal.

It says charging but does not go to 100% till about 4 AM. I get up at 4:30. If I plug in during the day due to high use. It charges to 100% in about 30 minutes.

In my experience with optimize battery charging, it doesn't work if an alarm has yet to go off within hours of the phone being charged, or while it is charging. So, what I am doing now is switching my phone to the 80 percent limit and then, switch it to optimize battery charging, if I'm charging the phone using a power bank, or if an alarm is imminent. The other thing is, the alarm which goes off every morning is a complete song from my music library and a song, which reminds me of summer and is by a Canadian rock band from Kingston Ontario. So, the 80 percent limit for the iPhone 15 is a great feature and hopefully, this can be expanded to older devices using iOS 17 in future updates. This also provides us with more control over battery aging and if there is an issue where optimize battery charging doesn't work for a while, this feature certainly comes in quite handy until the next update comes along. I could've used that with iOS 16 during the spring with the iPhone 13 Pro.

I got my 15 pro max in October. I only use 40%-50% of the battery each day, and after 2 weeks the phone was using optimized battery charging. it dropped to 99% capacity within 2 months. The phone never got hot, I only used apple branded stuff, and I even used a 5W apple charger overnight. My 14 Pro took 7 months to drop to 99%, and my iPhone 11 took 14 months to drop to 99%. What gives? why does the most expensive phone drop the quickest? my battery now will drop about 5-10% more than it did one month ago with the same usage. What should I do?

That's interesting. I have a iPhone 15 Pro Max, and I'm still at 100% battery capacity/health...and I'll admit I'm pretty bad at charging when I should. I will charge it at 40-50% often if I'm going somewhere and will need to guarantee I have my phone. I was much better with my last phone and waiting until 10-20% for charging it, and waiting til it was 100%. I have it set to charge to full as well, not the 80%. I am at 120 cycles already weirdly but ya still at 100% battery capacity/health. I also turned off the stupid "clean energy charging" right away as soon as I got it. I don't care if there is a pipe spewing out black smoke because of the battery charging during "dirty power" times, I care about having my phone available when I need it.

If your battery was manufactured a long time before you actually purchased and used the phone then that plays a role. If a battery was made a month before you start using the phone it will take longer to drop however if it was made 6 months then it will drop faster. It’s just luck

I’ve iOS 17.2 on iPhone 15 Pro Max. Am super careful while charging with Apple Original 20W Charger. Charge my phone between 30% to 70%. Use Apple apps only except WhatsApp and KZbin. Problem is, my phone drops almost 3% battery within 2 hours of time. I’ve literally taken all steps that could drain battery. Phone remains on Low Battery Mode. Don’t understand why the battery drain is so much
@wr2899
@wr2899 8 ай бұрын
What is the point in having an iPhone 15 pro if you are running it on low battery mode all the time? You won’t benefit from a lot of your phone for example the refresh rate and visual effects but also it under powers the chip, disables cores and under clocks it. You should have got a 15 plus. Also, 3% battery drain in 2 hours is very slow. You sound very anxious about the battery I know it’s easier said than done but try not to stress, the battery will degrade no matter what. Unless you want to keep your phone for 5-6 years without ever changing the battery. Otherwise the difference is going to be minimal.

@wr2899
@wr2899 8 ай бұрын
It will work if you are charging it to 100% at the same time every day and taking it off the charge the same length of time after. For example if you put your phone on charge from 1pm to 5pm every day, after a while your phone will charge up to 80% in 90 minutes and then hold the rest until maybe 4pm where it will trickle expecting you to take it off at 5pm. If you are charging it at different times then the setting won’t kick in as it won’t be sure when you will need your phone so will give you the charge asap.

I am just glad my iPhone 15 pro max has an amazing battery. I don’t turn on 5G because my area has crap coverage and I would rather have battery health on LTE. but I also keep my screen at 60 htz for battery. Auto app refresh is off. With everything tuned down I know I’m not getting optimal use, but for me I am with the battery lasting to 8.5 hrs sot and still having 40% left. Delivering pizza is a drain on my gps but it manages to keep up! Love it.

The problem I found with optimized battery charging is that you have to have a predictable schedule or routine. I literally only charge my phone when it gets down to 20% which might be four or five days in between charges and at any random time of day or night, and I immediately remove it from the wire as soon as it hits 100% so it doesn’t sit.

Hi Aaron. I have iPhone 15 Pro, bought in September 2023. Previously, i updated 17.1 and my battery health dropped to 99%. Recently, updated 17.1.2, and again my battery health dropped to 98%. I usually don't use my phone so much and the battery drops from 100% to between 60% to 70%. Also made some changes to the settings as well and i use the Belkin charger bought from the Apple store and use it for my phone. It's been 2 months now i've been using this phone and charge once it's 60%. Kindly guide me on how to maintain the battery's health. Really appreciate your feedback on this.

If you want to preserve battery health, enable the 80% option. Normally the battery optimisation should work fine, if it drops way too fast, it means your phone is often running hot, resulting in faster battery degradation if the heat also stays at the battery. Always be sure your apps don’t run bad or so. Normally shouldn’t drop that fast, if it drops faster after 17.2 you should contact Apple, they should change your device or get you a new battery, might be a faulty one

1-Charge your phone once it drop between 15%-25% 2- don’t charge your phone above 80% unless you need then your max is 90%. 3- use 10w or 12w charger, unless you need a quick charger then use 20w. 4- heat is your enemy, so try using and charging your phone at a cold temp. 5- turn unnecessary features that drain your battery, like app that use your location service all the time (change it to while using the app) 6- don’t use your phone while charging. I have iphone 13 pro max and 15 pro My 13PM is 2 years old and its at 97% battery health (actual is 93% using analytics) My 15 pro is q month old and of course its at 100%

I use the 80% charging limit on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. Instead of stopping at 80%, keeps on going. Initially i thought that it disabled by itself, but it wasn’t, 80% limit on, and when i looked at the phone i had 85% battery and was still going up. So there’s a software issue for sure, as it doesn’t stop at 80%.
