iOS needs a feature where if you set your phone face down on a surface (such as a bedside table) it automatically sets your phone to do not disturb, and as soon as you pick it up and look at it (say, in the morning) dnd automatically switches off.

I tried the custom focus and that doesn’t work with smart activation. It’s always on when there’s a set on and off, and the location as well. I was somewhere else and it turned on. For that feature to work they need to fix this first.

⁠@@spencerjones1771 I had set up all the shortcuts before, then when I went into Vocal Shortcuts, they were all listed. It lets you change the name of the voice commands. I realized that you have to give location permission though, so I abandoned it and stuck with the shortcuts as I had them before.

@@spencerjones1771 I'd imagine you need to create the shortcut in the shortcuts app first. Looking at vocal commands now, all my hue and tesla shortcuts are showing individually. I don't really see the use for this when you can already just say "Hey Siri" and then read the name of the command shortcut like "open trunk" or "evening lights"

I have the iPhone 16 Pro. All of the settings you suggested were already turned on lol and here’s a tip: when in settings, and you scroll down to Apps where they dumped everything, you don’t have to search. Just touch the letter you want and it’ll put you there - like M for messages 😊

I used this voice control to go to Lock Screen from voice control. If someone grabs your phone and starts looking through it, you can lock it with your voice. That’s nice.

There is no roaming charges for cellular in the US anymore from any carrier. So that way when you’re traveling it will automatically switch to AT&T or Verizon or T-Mobile towers. That way you get uninterrupted service but you don’t get charges from roaming anymore I always Turn this feature on. The only time I would turn it off as if you’re traveling to another country or on a cruise.

I’ve been following for a while. Honest question and I just noticed it; after the latest iOS update I just noticed I no longer need to be logged into APL to receive the app updates, why? Prior to, I used to have to log in every-time in order for the apps to update and now, If I tap the tab update all, it starts downloading? This has been on any device with the newest iOS 18.2.0 update. I have another older iphone that only has iOS 16 and it requires me to log into APL in order to update apps.
