i agree hopefully ios 19 is that update since it seems shockingly all ios 18 supported devices will support ios 19 so i'm more hoping that this is more of a bug, stutter, n lag update that js refines everything like the control center maybe making more ios 17 like color pallet wise refining the tinting option maybe add a light mode tinting option but overall js fix the tinting bug where if tinted it'll lag and stutter the app library if you have widgets idk why but they need to fix that it's still very laggy and doesn't rly work properly tbh idc for new features rn and i dont rly think the rest of us do either i think at this point we all js want apple to focus and fix all the bugs lag n stutter issues across the entire os before adding on more features we need the smoothness and refinements of ios 17 instead of this playful cartoony buggy ios 18 (cough cough fix the control center dammit)

I’ve had a camera bug since iOS 17 on my 13ProMax and again on iOS 18.2 on 16Pro whenever I get a text notification (via Siri to my hearing aids). When I’m attempting to take pictures, the camera screen flashes off and on. I finally figured out I can use a focus mode as a workaround, turning off notifications while using the camera. Also, my Meross garage door opener loses connection to my HomeKit whenever updating tvOS. Deleting and adding is my only workaround at this time. Anyone else?

A third bug they didn’t fix is also the battery drain. I really hope that all three of these issues are fixed with 18.3. I’m very sorry that I didn’t stay on iOS 17. My iPhone XR was working like brand new on that. This is the worst experience that I’ve ever had with a new IOS. If they decide that the iPhone XR will be supported with iOS 19, based on my experience with 18, I will not be updating.

What about a folding iPHone? I'd love to see one that folds out vertically to give a nice tablet-sized screen, similar to the Samsung phone you unboxed a few months back for about $3k. Vintage yes, but not obsolete. My 512 Gb rose gold XS Max runs 18.2 perfectly, no heating, no bugs, no AI but so what, with a two yr old Apple replacement battery still at 94%. I was thinking about the SE4 but I’ll now hang on for the iPhone 17 with the 120 Hz LTPO screen across the whole range.

It would be really great if Apple would take the time to fix bugs and stop being so quick to roll out the next iOS update. IOS 18.2 did not fix the email load error bug or network drop bug. Apple needs to go back to the drawing board when it comes to focusing on consistent quality customer service. I feel like they’ve forgotten that customer service is more important than anything else.

Apple will almost certainly extend iOS 19 to all devices currently running iOS 18 just to prove a point about the 7 year extended support which Google’s Pixel and Samsung’s Galaxy series are now trumpeting. Google has a terrible record of unkept promises (see Marcus Brownlee’s video on this) so it’s a great chance for Apple to show what true extended support looks like.
