Man, i love the concept of snack projects. That's exactly the right way to describe what I've been wanting lately! My work life is full of big projects, and my hobbies have all led me into bigger projects, and lately I've just been wanting to bust out a few small projects for the joy of completing them. Like something that doesn't require learning a whole new piece of complex software or building new processes and tool chains. Love the term snack project and I'll definitely be using it from now on! Also, my god are you right when you said to never count the hours. That's never going to work out well

I'm constantly going back and forth between wanting to be in a big project when I'm not, then wanting it to be done once I'm in one. I try to comfort myself that dynamic balances are more flexible and capable, but...

Regarding the rotary table eating up the vertical space in a mill, over on the Inheritance Machining channel they made a slick rotary table that, when needed, is clamped in place on top of the vice. My entire Sherline mill is roughly the size of just that rotary table. :-)

Oh this was a good one. I saw your posts about many of these on Mastodon of course, but there's art in your wrap-up.

I very much like that bandsaw knob. Very nice. (Also goddamn I want a cargo bike. :D )

I was one of the questioners about the bike; I went out and got a Workcycles KR-8 a little later. My only regret, honestly, is not having bought it like five years ago.

Great video man! I am always looking for machining videos for tips and projects. I find myself often disappointed with youtube's algorithm. Otherwise, I would have seen you long ago. Subscribing now! BTW you remind me of another youtuber I watch, Technology Connections, by being in depth but not so much it because boring. Thanks for the content(:

The simple upgrade for your milling machine vise is to remove the swivel base. You know you want to do it. It serves almost no purpose,and its a thief. All it does is steal z axis travel, and take your vise out of tram. You're welcome, Mike.

Yeah, I've since done that, don't know why it took me so long.

this has rapidly become one of my favorite "make cool shit" channels since AvE went all political. good video!
@evanbarnes998410 ай бұрын
Did AvE go political? How so? I haven't watched him in quite a while, I always found him a bit grating. I'm assuming he went far right, there were hints of it in early videos for sure. That sucks though, he did do some interesting work for a while

@@evanbarnes9984 basically as soon as COVID came around he started interjecting his politics and opinions about it (which basically boil down to COVID denialism) into his videos and made a few that were, in my opinion, in poor taste. The tragedy is that he is genuinely a brilliant machinist, but being brilliant in one field doesn't mean you can't be a fucken' moron in another.
