Until I saw this video and did a Google search, I had no idea Coach Dennis Green with NW, Stanford, and Minnesota Vikings coaching stops was a tailback at Iowa. And a damn good one. R.I.P.

They haven't met since. I remember that squad. ND was an offensive juggernaut in '68, averaging 504.4 years per game in total offense. Even after Terry Hanretty went down with a knee injury in practice, Joe Theismann stepped in and didn't skip a beat. Theismann was even used as a punt returner in '68.

Thanks for those details!

Surprised Iowa was only 8-13 w 3 ties, all time, vs ND (after this loss). Very competitive.

I would have guessed Iowa's record was worse than that. The Iowa teams from mid-60's to late 70's were also not very good.

Same defense that held oj to 65 yards in los Angeles, what a great defense

This is great! Love the play by play. This was on TV and I am glad to see it again after all these years. Iowa and Notre Dame ought to resume their series.

I agree, that would be awesome to play them again

Not many colleges had all-electric scoreboards back then.
