2004: Why do we need a playoff? Every game matters 2025:12 team playoffs lol
@brionhurley
@brionhurley 28 күн бұрын
I like the playoff, long overdue. I think all games will still matter, because it will impact your seed in the playoff, which can impact where and who you play. 4 team playoff was better than before when we had co-national champions. There will always be teams left out, but last year's debacle with FSU shouldn't happen again. I think 12 teams ensures all undefeated teams get in, including at least one mid-major. Iowa would have made the playoffs in 2004, which would have been cool.

Until I saw this video and did a Google search, I had no idea Coach Dennis Green with NW, Stanford, and Minnesota Vikings coaching stops was a tailback at Iowa. And a damn good one. R.I.P.

11:40 Another look 12:34 Ricky Davis the most exciting and best basketball player to come out of Iowa High School basketball for sure. Ricky also showed how he was a great passer, rebounder, shooter and defender as well in this game. Watching Ricky and Dean Oliver as Freshman was great both ended up going to the NBA. Harrison Barnes no2 best player to come out of Iowa HS ball. Thanks for uploading.

This press conference showcases how uninspiring KF has always been. I dont think ive ever seen a head coach who lacks so much passion. It’s also funny that his introduction called in innovative… nothing innovative about his program now.
@brionhurley
@brionhurley 2 ай бұрын
I don't interpret that as lack of passion. He's just not a "rah-rah" guy like traditional coaches, which is also really annoying.

In this game was J.C. Love Jordan, who five years later went on to compete on the second half of the First season of the original "American Gladiators" in early 1990 which had another former College Football player who competed in the first half in late 1989, Brian Hutson, who played for Mississippi State through 1986 and famously knocked gladiator Malibu off the pedestal in the Human Cannonball event.

Recruiting for the Iowa Hawkeyes improved dramatically under his successor George Raveling who departed after three season but he left behind a trove of talent. Raveling had inherited little talent.at Iowa except Greg Stokes. Point guard Andre Banks was pretty good, too.

1956 was by far Notre Dame’s worst football season to that point. They finished 2-8 and gave up 289 points. Before this, ND had never lost more than 5 games or allowed as many as 200 points in any season-and this was the only time ND would ever allow 200+ points in a 10-game season. ND didn’t allow more than 200 again until 1984 (7-5) and 1985 (5-6). Three 1956 teams scored 40+ on ND-Oklahoma, Michigan State, and Iowa-something that had happened only five previous times combined in 68 seasons. The terrible season was completely unexpected: ND entered the season ranked 3rd in the AP poll. ND finished above .500 the next 2 years, but floundered from 1959-1963 and wasn’t a national championship contender again until Ara Parseghian arrived in 1964.
