IOWA NORTHERN WITH SLUG ACTION! WORKING THE INTERCHANGE AND CANADIAN NATIONAL WITH DRONE VIEWS!

07/07/2024 Cedar Falls, Ia. Here the Iowa Northern is seen shortly after diverging at the Cedar Falls Junction. F40 locomotives with slugs powered the train that day. Waterloo, Ia. Chased the Iowa Northern and caught them doing a little work in the interchange. After the Iowa Northern cleared the CN L571 departed for the days work. Plenty of power on the L571 that day!

Love these locos! They are huge, yes plenty of power. Awesome drone footage again Red of the train going over the bridges & the swollen river. Love how you can follow the train for miles & see for mikes around. The second 5 loco CN was awesome & you can see right away it was a long train. Thanks Red. ❤😊👍

The switching that the Iowa Northern did at the interchange track with the Canadian National was fascinating to watch, Red! The Canadian National's train #L571 had its usual compliment of empty tank cars which it will drop off at the towns where there are ethanol plants along the Canadian National tracks. I noticed that there were still a lot of tree snags near the flood gates of the Cedar Falls, Iowa Dam. I wonder if those tree snags will interfere with the closing of the flood gates. (Post 21 July 2024 at 2154 CDT.)

@thomasmackowiak Thanks Thomas! Yes the tree snags have caused problems closing the gates. Usually takes heavy equipment to get the snag out.
