With Altmyer being labeled the starter this weekend, that significantly shifts Iowas defensive game plan. They will have to account for the QB pull, which will result in heavier looks from Iowa. It also avails the defense to deep shots in the passing game. We think the Iowa defense will attempt to take Altmyer away but that will open up other avenues of attack for Illinois.

With Coop out I would guess this is more of a quarters game. Force Illinois to be patient and wait for a mistake. The safeties haven't had huge influence this season I think they might be called upon more in this game.

On the late 2nd quarter pick, Ortworth actually broke inside and with a well placed ball could've gotten his first TD. Deacon just stared that corner route down like crazy. The improvement from the Minnesota game to Rutgers is wild. Great to see some confidence for the receivers and Kaleb Brown needs to be the sole target with occasional hits to Seth and the TEs. KJ2 needs to be RB1. To effectively have the three headed monster of our RB room, we have to either cycle less disctiminantly and more frequently, or lean on KJ2 and utilize Jaz in 3rd down and Leshon in passes.

Illinois fan here. Even without DeJean, I still think Iowa's top 10 defense will be good enough to win this game. I think it will be close and these guys are underestimating the Illini's ability to run the ball. Between Love and Feagin, they can move the ball on the ground pretty well. All that being said, I am thinking this will be 21-18 final score in favor of the Hawkeyes. I just hope we can beat Northwestern to be bowl eligible.

Altmeyer being listed as the starter will definitely help Illinois run the ball. If Paddock was the starter, his inability to run the QB read would allow Iowa’s backside DE to key in on the running back on every shotgun run. With Altmeyer in, they will have to account for his legs on every play.

This is why Kirk had never been forced to make fundamental changes. Our O stinks all year, then plays one descent game and all of a sudden Kirk is a genius again. Deacon plays one game with a double digit QBR and now we're going to be competitive In the B10 Championship. You boys might not want to get too far over your skis

Iowa wins this im a illini fan. Our idiot coach is starting the wrong quarterback. Im not saying we would win with him but i think it gives us a better chance. Iowa's defense is too good for us to win and oir defense isnt that great
