Agree, I have seen loads of Doe Triple-D's over the years and they still appear at ploughing matches doing demo's.

Better late than never, I worked on Fiat 615 tandems in Western Australia. They were built by AG Parts in Bassendean, Perth. W.A. The clutches were hydraulically operated and synchronized by a flow control valve. In the cool of the morning, the driver had to adjust the valve, as the day heated up he would have to readjust the valve. The farmer was clearing Mallee bush, he had a ship's anchor chain attached to the Fiat and like a skipping rope to a large Caterpillar crawler, They would set off at full belt the Fiat charging through the bush, countless times with all wheels off the ground.

Wish someone would do a cost comparison. Two old tractors combined vs one new FWD with comparable HP.
@bitsnpieces112 жыл бұрын
I'm fairly certain that at the time these were built up there simply were no tractors with that much hp or four wheel drive.

@@bitsnpieces11 Good point but I'm talking about cost comparison today two old vs one new comparable except cab and computer. One more useful fact the tandem can run duals in front. Point is possible giant killer. Big ag subsidized ethanol ag can run million dollar machines with a crew of computer techs. It's nice to consider what an honest man could do with a fleet of these. Is it not? Oh yeah, fuel cost.

@@tomjones4318 I agree with you, they were made because of the time and the need for "more" tractor. I first read about them being homebuilt in Australia to plow/work thousands of acres. Quickly being commercially built because they were so successful and good at the job. With todays' engines and center pivot steering it's really just an improvement of the concept to todays' type such as 'Big Bud'.
