Australia is rapidly moving towards the edge of an energy cliff with intermittent wind and solar farms unable to fill the gap left by affordable and reliable power stations set to be destroyed in the name of net zero.
At IPA Academy 2024, Institute of Public Affairs’ Visiting Fellow Professor Stephen Wilson looks at the scope for nuclear, the role of markets and governments and the intersection of energy security, affordability and sustainability.
The Australian Energy Market Operator has warned of rolling blackouts and increasing costs but continues to advocate for unreliable renewable energy generation to achieve net zero by 2050.
But is there an alternative that can satisfy net zero advocates while keeping the cost of electricity affordable for hardworking Australians?

If you truly cared about the environment you would be keen to find out as much as you can about different aspects of energy generation including the cradle to grave story of renewables. And if you did that you would know the damage that wind turbines, solar panels, backup batteries and EV's are the number one cause of environmental damage being done to the planet right now and why. But you won't do any of that because you are too lazy to read or watch anything other than short bytes. So you simply insult people.
