Did you go to CLIMATE MISINFORMATION BY SOURCE: WILLIAM HAPPER? You'll see all of his talking points debunked there. Happer is the former head of the CO2 Coalition, which is funded by the fossil industry to promote the use of MORE gas and oil. How does Happer fool his audience? By little lies of omission, verbal sleight of hand, and employment of cherry-picked data. If you're not familiar with climate science, you'll be easily fooled because you won't know what he withholds from you. As he regales you with stories about how great CO2 is for the planet, he neglects to mention that the warming that accompanies that rising CO2 melts the icecaps, raises sea levels, intensifies hurricanes, expands wildfire seasons, and increases heatwaves, marine heatwaves, ocean acidification, droughts, extreme precipitation events, and tick-and-mosquito-borne diseases. According to Cornell University, farm productivity is actually 21% lower than it would otherwise be without global warming. Extended heatwaves decimate crops. So do extreme precipitation events. So do droughts and wildfires. He also never mentions NASA's SECOND survey of the earth, launched to determine where the actual greening was coming from. In the 1990s they assumed it must be from CO2. That second survey, however, found that the most substantial portion came not from CO2 but from the planting of billions of new trees in China, India, and the Sahel in Africa. (The Great Green Wall), along with intensive new farming practices, especially in India and China. He never mentions that sea level has risen four inches since 1992 and that the rate of rise has doubled since then, according to NASA and worldwide tide gauges. Never mentions that high tide flooding along the American south and Gulf coasts has risen 400% and 1100% respectively since the year 2000. Even New England, which is uplifting land from glacial rebound, is up 140%. It's why Houston, New York and Louisiana have a combined $100 billion in flood mitigation projects in the works. Why wouldn't he mention that? Because he's an oil industry shill, that's why. Go to the site I mentioned and you'll see so much more.

CO2 is great for plants. But only up to a point. We've passed that point. While Happer regales you with stories about how CO2 helps crops to grow, he neglects to mention that the warming that accompanies rising CO2 cancels out those benefits. Heatwaves have tripled since the 1960s, according to the EPA. Heatwaves wither and decimate crops. At 104 degrees, all photosynthesis STOPS. Many seeds won't even germinate at that temperature. Think about places in the world like Phoenix, which saw temperatures exceeding 110 degrees for 31 straight days this summer. If you're a subsistence farmer (and there are still over a billion in the world), you could lose an entire season of crops in one fell swoop. Extreme precipitation events, which are also increasing, wash away topsoil and fertilizer and drown crops. Droughts, also increasing in duration and in intensity, dry up the soil, and not only starve plants of water, they increase wildfire risk. Wildfires are also increasing. Why wouldn't Happer go into any of this firmly established data? Happer, in fact, is debunked in the scientific literature, which you can see for yourself at "Climate Misinformation by Source: William Happer." He's not a climate scientist. He's the former head of the CO2 Coalition, which has long been funded by the fossil fuel industry to promote the use of more gas and oil. Happer says more CO2 is a good thing and that global warming is harmless and natural. That's completely the OPPOSITE of what his own American Physical Society says, with a membership of over 50,000 physicists, in their 2021 public statement on climate change. Warming, they state, is "unequivocally" caused by human activity and it's anything but harmless. They "urge swift action" to mitigate the damage our emissions are causing. You'll find that same sentiment in the public statements about climate change made by every major scientific institution on earth, from NASA to NOAA to the World Meteorological Organization.

@@talisikid1618That is absolutely, categorically untrue. As it happens, this planet can sustain many more people than at present. Basic science can easily show you that. However, populations tend to find their own levels. The more prosperous a population is, the less children they tend to have. Those children also grow up to have even more prosperous, better lives. Often this is achieved by the implementation of good quality science and technology. This happens unless the self serving and devious get in the way of the process and manipulate things to benefit themselves and to the detriment of the masses. The key to population reduction where desirable, is to bring people out of poverty and improve their lives. Too many parts of the world are under the boot of corruption. It is rife in parts of Africa. Listen to this man as objectively as you can. This is real, honest science.

CO2 is NOT the primary feedback for ice ages, as explained in my peer-review paper. In reality, the feedback agent is most probably ice-sheet dust-albedo, caused by low CO2. The first problem with ice ages is: When CO2 concentrations were high the world cooled, and when CO2 was low the world warmed. This counter-intuitive temperature response strongly suggests that CO2 is not the primary feedback agent. The second problem with ice ages is: Ice ages are forced by increased Milankovitch insolation in the Northern Hemisphere (NH), but never by increased insolation in the Southern Hemisphere. If CO2 were the primary feedback agent interglacials could and would be forced by increased insolation in either hemisphere, but they are not. The fact that interglacials are only ever NH events, strongly suggests that surface albedo is the primary feedback agent rather than CO2 (the great landmasses being in the NH). The third problem with ice ages is: During an ice age, many NH Milankovitch maxima produce little or no temperature response. Again, this would be unlikely if CO2 was the primary feedback agent, but it is to be expected if surface albedo was the primary feedback. High albedo ice sheets covered in fresh snow can and will reject the increased insolation from a NH Milankovitch maximum, resulting in little or no temperature response. Unless, of course, the ice sheets are somehow covered in dust, thus reducing their albedo. Fortuitously, the northern ice sheets do indeed get covered in dust just before each and every interglacial. This is the topic of my ice age modulation paper - the counter-intuitive method of dust production, and its function as the primary feedback agent controlling interglacial warming. The fourth problem with ice ages is: The CO2 is a very weak feedback agent indeed. During an interglacial warming era, the CO2 feedback requires warming from decade to decade, to feedback-force temperatures into the next (warmer) decade. Unfortunately the CO2 feedback is only 0.007 W/m2 per decade, which is less energy than a bee requires to fly. Conversely, reduced albedo ice sheets can absorb an extra 200 W/m2 every single annual year, when measured regionally. Clearly the albedo feedback is far stronger than the proposed CO2 feedback, and could indeed dissipate the vast northern ice sheets in about 6,000 years. All of the above points strongly suggest that ice sheet albedo is the primary feedback agent modulating interglacials, rather than CO2. Increased dust is caused by low CO2 concentrations, because CO2 is plant-food, and the most essential gas in the atmosphere. Thus low CO2concentrations cause the death of all C3 vegetation at high altitude, causing CO2 deserts to form across the Gobi plateau. Dust from these CO2 deserts formed the huge dust deposits of the Loess Plateau, and also covered the northern ice sheets in dust - which lowered the albedo of the ice sheets and precipitated melting. See peer-review paper: ModuIation of lce Ages via Dust and AIbedo. Ralph Ellis

And there was the January 2022 Tongan eruption, with the crater 150 m under the sea, which from rising magma at 1100 - 1470 degrees Kelvin caused a massive jet of water vapour, adding an estimated 10% to the water vapour in the stratosphere. By far the greatest greenhouse effect is from water vapour, being the vast majority of greenhouse gas (70% or more). CO2 is peanuts, man's vastly less at 4% of CO2. The tiny CO2 lasts something like 5-6 years as it is being perpetually absorbed and discharged.. Also, all the heavy rain and flash flooding globally is likely a result of climatic change from that eruption (atmospheric dust particles included) and scientists think the effects of that dust and vapour could last up to 5 years. Interesting times (situation normal).

Happer is profoundly debunked in the scientific literature, which you can see at "Climate Misinformation by Source: William Happer." Happer says more CO2 is good and global warming is natural and completely harmless, the exact OPPOSITE of what his own American Physical Society ( over 50,000 physicists) asserts in its 2021 public statetment on climate change. Their position is that global warming is "unequivocally" caused by human activity, and they urge 'swift action" to mitigate the damage our emissions are doing. Their public stance is the same as ALL (yes, ALL) of the world's major scientific institutions, from NASA to NOAA to the World Meteorological Organization.

Climate propaganda? If you believe that then you've been indoctrinated by FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY PROPAGANDA, my friend. ELEVEN studies confirm the scientific consensus on climate change. ELEVEN. Over 80 academies of science and ALL of the world's major scientific institutions, from NASA to NOAA to the World Meteorological Organization publicly endorse the consensus findings, which is why every nation on earth is a card-carrying member of the IPCC. In 2021, Cornell University audited the over 88000 climate studies published from 2012-2020 and tallied a 99.9% consensus that human activity is warming the planet. Even Exxon's own scientists in leaked memos have acknowledged that combusted fossil fuels are warming the planet to a damaging degree. THESE are the reasons children are taught about climate change in school, not because anyone has been brainwashed. By contrast, William Happer isn't even a climate scientist, has published ZERO scientific papers on climate change, and is in fact the former head of the CO2 Coalition, which is FUNDED BY THE FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY to promote the use of more gas and oil. You can seen Happer's talking points completely debunked here: skepticalscience.com/William_Happer_arg.htm Always fact-check your "experts" before you believe them. Ralph Ellis

It would be very strange indeed not to shut down flights from countries like China, Italy, Iran, Spain, etc. where tens of thousands suddenly started to die in horribly painful ways during the first weeks and months, including a scaring number of doctors and nurses. Health authorities and governments in countries like Sweden (my home) behaved totally irresponsible during this period. Sweden also had ten times as many deaths as its neighbours.

I probably won't have enough time to dissect the whole thing, but scroll down to 10 days ago in the comments, look for @mervynsullivam, and my last 3 or 4 posts in that thread dissect and de-construct in detail the misinformation in the first 7 minutes of this video, with time stamps. And NO, he's not a real climate scientist, and when he gets to that graph where he's making a big deal about a doubling of CO2 leading to only a 1% reduction in heat getting to space at that one wavelength band for CO2, he "conveniently" leaves out four other ways raising CO2 levels is known to warm the planet: 1) increasing global water vapor levels and keeping them higher, 2) increasing global methane levels (due to the direct warming due to CO2 melting global ice), 3) lowering albedo due to melting global ice, thus increasing the amount of light energy from the sun that gets transformed into heat energy, and 4) further increasing levels of CO2, water vapor, and methane due to the warming caused by the above 3 mechanisms. Pretty weird that someone who claims to know about climate would leave out those known effects of raising global CO2 levels, don't you think? But then again, letting his audience in on those facts would spoil the illusion he is trying to create. I hope that helps.

He comes at this from a very detailed scientific approach that obliterates the notion that there is a climate “crisis”. But you don’t have to be a scientist to understand how badly the warming effects of CO2 have been blown out of proportion to reality. When you boil it all down, this is an extremely complex heat transfer problem with many other facets affecting temperature other than just carbon containing components. Simply put, there is not enough CO2 to warrant calling it a crisis. If you could somehow condense the entire volume of the earth’s atmosphere down to one gallon, there would only be a tad less than a 1/3 of a teaspoon of CO2 in that gallon. That’s what 400 ppm represents and apparently a lot of people have trouble grasping how small that concentration level really is. Around 200 years ago, the amount in that gallon would have been a tad less than a 1/4 of a teaspoon so there’s no denying it has increased. CO2 though, is for all practical purposes a trace component in the atmosphere and common sense should tell anyone that a trace atmospheric component will never have anything more than a trace effect on atmospheric temperatures.

This happens every year without fail. I’m sure people older than me must have noticed the changes! It’s like a rotation of different high and low temperatures for a few months at a time. This brings with it varying rates of precipitation. Sometimes icy and sometimes warm, sometimes heavy, sometimes light. Sometimes the sun sort of falls north and sometimes south. I’ve noticed this seems to align with temperature variations and either longer or shorter daylight hours!

Enough with trying to downplay what is happening: Humans are warming the planet 10-20 times faster than it usually warms when coming out of an ice age and that is already causing hundreds of harmful ripple effects for people and the millions of other species in our wonderful Earth family. These include intensifying climate disasters, disrupted seasons, disrupted industries (fishing, ski industry), disrupted habitats (one study found that half the species on Earth are migrating to cooler places), and accelerating global ice melt, and global sea level rise. Oh yeah, and we've made the oceans 30% "more acidic" and decreased their oxygen levels, and their current are slowing, and human activity has already killed off half the coral reefs that existed in the 1950s.

China has planted over 66 billion trees in the last 30 years. India has planted nearly that many. Billions more have been planted in the Great Green Wall project across Africa, to stop the spread of the Sahara Desert. But little known among the public is that a newly-planted tree actually gives off more CO2 in its first 20 years than it absorbs, according to Oregon State University. Just digging a hole to plant a tree releases CO2 from the organisms in the soil. The tree roots themselves respire and release CO2. Most people are unaware that it's the OLD-GROWTH forests that do the absorbing. That's why a good strategy is to allow old growth forests to continue to grow rather than to cut them down for harvesting. We also need to keep in mind that forest fires release masses of CO2 into the atmosphere. Canada's burn acreage has doubled since the 1970s and the western U.S. has seen its burn acreage TRIPLE. Harvested trees for paper and other products also end up returning CO2 to the atmosphere when those products are incinerated. About 80% of forest products are SHORT-TERM products, with 65% returning their CO2 back into the atmosphere within 30 years, according to the data. Global warming also causes trees to release more CO2. Plants exhale CO2 at night but when stressed by heat, they release even more. It's not nearly as simple as we'd all like to believe.

Fear of the truth by a totally discredited organisation. Their own founder has discredited Greenpeace on numerous occasions. Don't buy into the fear. That's what religions are built on.

In that pathetic sting operation Happer proved himself genuine. He never suggested anything underhanded. He just pointed out the same thing he does in his lectures, that the "peer review" process is hopelessly corrupted. If you want underhanded you needn't go any further than Climategate

Why is CO2 we exhale an argument? That CO2 is a result of the carbon in the food we eat - ultimately from photosynthesis which ofcourse takes up the CO2 we exhale - unlesss he assume all of us drinks gasoline and eats brown coal.

Do not take personal offense, Al Gore is a fraud and it won the Nobel Prize. Unfortunately, the Nobel Peace Prize is becoming a joke and I am sure that they will be more careful about who they give it to. There are already several bad Peace Nobel Prizes.

Thank you, Professor Happer. One of the very few who deserves the title.
