my dad got this the other day for 20 bucks. was a bit skeptical at first as it's very old, was for only 20 and has a cracked screen, but so far so good gets on the internet and my dad has used it for youtube and whatnot and has no complaints. would recommend for a small child or a parent, easy to use and quite durable. easy 7/10 for this tablet.

My dad bought the iPad 2 back in 2011 and passed it down to my mom like 2 years after and my mom used it for a good year and a half until my brother got her a newer iPad at the time and then my mom just gave it to me haha :)) I have the 7th Gen iPad now but I use the iPad 2 as my e-library for my ebooks. I have to say it's super durable.

I got one for cheap a few years ago. Is it worth it? I'd say no if you're looking for something that is still functional on the modern web and as a fully functional tablet (most older apps don't work anymore and most don't even allow you to download the old versions to begin with). But if you're looking to get familiar with classic jailbreaking, the answer will change to a yes! I've downgraded to iOS 8, jailbroke it and have installed many games and useful apps that I couldn't experience back then. I'm currently using it as a second screen for my Windows laptop using Duet. I've also installed an old version of Byword and iA Writer, which makes for a pretty good distraction-free experience. Thanks to the jailbreak you can then easily get these files off of your iPad using your WiFi network. I must say I do have nostalgia for it as I fondly remember using it when I was at my uncle's house, playing Real Racing (or something similar on iOS 6) and being astonished at the graphics for such a slim tablet. Time sure flies.

IMO You buy an old iPad for the same reason you buy an old DSi or PSP. They aren't good for modern tasks but for 2010's era mobile games + easy jailbreaking to install emulators and other apps. I'd say the best part about the iPad 2 specifically (excluding some models) is that you can pick between downgrading to iOS 6 or 8, offering some flexibility if you want more speed or slightly more recent app support. Plus you can dual boot any version you want if you have a specific app that doesn't work for you or you really want a specific version.

In Africa no apple device is ever outdated, we still sell this ipad 2 for $150, and even iphone 5,6,7,8 are still the in thing here and people are crazy about them. I have the recently purchased a couple of ipad 2 for my kids and they were thrilled,they work fine, Netflix,KZbin, Tik Tok, and loads of games. It is robust , you drop it and its still fine with that, battery lasts long.

I did a similar thing to an iPhone 4s, had iOS 9.3.5 but then downgraded it to iOS 6.1.3 and found some old apps to load on it. Had to jailbreak it since the app store no longer works

@@vjpedia1984 I was able to find some tutorials on KZbin of how to downgrade an iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.3. Yes, you do need to jailbreak it by using 3UTools and then run a program called Pheonix, then run KDFU to flash the older firmware.

If you know what you're doing, how to edit kernals and code in c# there are ways to get iOS 10 to work on the iPad 2. It's by no means easy but the iPad 2 CPU actually supports it quite well!

It may work. You just have to make sure that you have a note taking app that supports drawing on your notes (to use the stylus) Although, apps are usually limited for iPads as old as that. Although you can try jailbreaking ot to a newer os, I wouldn't recommend if you don't know what you're doing.

The company I work for upgraded us from apple devces to Samsung, and I don't like it, so I dug my old ipad 2 out to try and gain my apple apps back that I liked, like apple tv, wallet, notes, and photos. I'm slowly learning that the photos and note apps are the only thing that works. Safari won't load anything either. I guess the inevitable is, I will either need to get used to Android, or take my broke ass down to the apple store and buy a new ipad. I'm going to keep messing with this one though until I get pissed off and smash it, or figure out a work around to get my apple apps that I'm used to. Why any company would decide to change from apple to android is beyond me.

nope because it's 32 bit. to upgrade to ios 10 (and have more supported apps), you need to have at least a 64 bit device. tried to jailbreak once but threw the ipad 2 away

iOS 10 was actually the last version to support 32-bit devices. iOS 11 and later require 64-bit devices. To run at least iOS 12, you need a iPad Air 2013, iPad mini 2 or a iPhone 5s and beyond to run iOS 12.

Umm, no. An iPad 2 can only be upgraded to iOS 9.3.5. Cellular: iOS 9.3.6. It does not support past iOS 9 and CANNOT BE UPDATED TO IPADOS 16. It had hardware issues already with iOS 9. So it didn’t Support iOS 10 or beyond. We are in 2022! That iPad is Seriously outdated.
