Thanks for your video & your information. The iPad Air 2 has just received an OS update, iPadOS 15.7.3, in January 2023. So it seems Apple is very fond of this model. They have every reason to be proud of it, many people all over the world are still using it. I bought mine second hand very recently, I have nothing to complain about. I hope they will keep on supporting it much longer.

Well, it’s finally the end of the road for this iPad, Apple just announced iPadOS 16, and the iPad Air 2 won’t be getting it, Apple just Drop Support for the iPad Air 2. But it is really impressive that Apple supported it for this long.

Yeah! Honestly the air 2 had a very long life and I think iOS 15 isn’t a bad iOS to leave it on. It’s actually amazing you can do split view on it too so it doesn’t miss out on some multitasking features. If anything I’m more upset about what iPadOS 16 leaves out for most iPads because they don’t have an M1 chip.

Is it ironic that I am watching this on my IPad air 2? It still works well for its age. I guess I will use it until it gets too slow or dies then I have to wave it goodbye. I have had a good time with it after any years of use. I got it used too. I mainly watch videos and surf the net.Thanks for the review. Liked and subscribed.😊👍

Whatever works best for your needs and wants is always going to be best for you! The Air 2 has had a very long life, but still has use cases today, if you’re using yours for basic tasks like you mentioned, I don’t see any issue with using it for a couple more years :) Thank you for watching and subbing, I really appreciate it! ❤️

I had it the day it launched for 4 1/2 years than got afraid that iOS 12 is the last OS and sold it got for 1 year the 10.5 Pro but ditched it for the Air 4 which I use now since launch again. Theres something about the Airs making these "perfect" for the average person. The thin Air 2 with that awesome Display.. even today its fine.. same for the Air 4 awesome Display, nicely powered (A14) and its still just about the same speed as the new 14 iPhones. I hope the new Airs also get such a long time iOS Support. I just bought an Air 2 from ebay for 45€ in perfectly working condition only 2 small drops left its marks and the Battery is definetly not the best anymore but its fully working wich is awesome. :) iPad Air 2 and iPad 2 (except iOS 9 is horrible on the iPad 2 iOS 8 was decent should have ended here) were the best iPads yet and I have the feeling that the first redesigned Pro (2018) and Air 4 will be the next best iPads.

I totally agree, it does seem like the pro 2018 is becoming the air 2 in terms of support and overall usability over the years, I wouldn’t be surprised if it got up to the 8 years of support or even more. I still use my 2018 12.9” and I’ve barely found any moments where it’s felt slow, the only issue is possibly the 4GBs of ram, but so many iOS devices only have 4GBs still anyway. Apple’s newer chips are so fast and similar to each other that I can’t imagine these iPads will be dropping support anytime soon.

@@TheTCTech yes! Even the new iPhones feature 4gb ram. These things will be fine and you’re 2018 Pro will definitely work fine the next years. Even the new basic iPad JUST got 4Gb 2021 still had 3gb. These devices since A12 didn’t gain much power and since A14 there no difference in speed comparison except for huge game loads or rendering. :) Im confident that my Air 4 after 2 years still will go another 4 years no problem or maybe even as you said all of those will get a total of 8 years. my iPhone X ive laying around runs still perfect no hiccups under iOS 16.2 and is barely slower on the Apple apps loading times than my daily 13 Pro. :) and my 12 mini is exactly the same speed so no difference at all. these things just fly and A chips doesn’t improve as much in cpu performance anymore it’s pretty much peaked and leveled with laptops and PC cpus while the first phones were like 20 years behind now they are all on par. :)

Still have my iPad Air 2 but haven’t used it much more than the basics. Want to use the pen with it more. Any particular apps for writing/planning you’d suggest?

I personally use Notability, but I know there’s a lot of people who also like to use Microsoft OneNote.

I love my IPad Air 2 kinda disappointed tho , I bought this 2 years ago because I thought it would be supported a few more years so I was disappointed when I found out this is the last update , don’t regret buying tho it’s still useable so I can’t really complain

The Air 2 had a ton of updates for a mobile device, especially when you consider it was using a souped up iPhone 6 processor and the iPhone 6 only received up to iOS 12. The air 2 won’t be obsolete overnight either. Apple still releases security updates, the iPhone 6 just had one this year in august even! :)

If you’re trying to download the iPadOS 16 beta, the Air 2 only supports iPadOS 15, the latest update for the Air 2 is 15.7. I hope this helps!

How long will Apple support the Air 2 with security updates?

If I had to guess, probably around 2 years or even more! The iPhone 6 and 5S received security updates just in August of this year and those can only run up to iOS 12.5 which is four years old already.

The iPad Air 2 does not support the Apple Pencil unfortunately

I don’t think Apple will keep on supporting this for much longer as I booted up my iPad at two and it doesn’t seem to get any more updates because I checked in settings and it says it’s up to date even though it’s on iOS 15 so sorry about that

Even though there isn’t any more major updates coming to iPad Air 2, apple still gives out security updates for around two years, so in that regard, it stays updated security wise at least
